The Black team has taken over patrol
duties until December 17. Look for the
schedule posted on the class web site.
Our first reward trip for all patrols will be
to White Bear Bowl on Tuesday,
December 21.

We will be collecting new and unwrapped
toys for Toys for Tots until December 8th.
All items will be donated to the Lions Club.
Student Council has also decided that our
next spirit day will be Wacky Hair day on
Thursday, December 16.

 WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO?
In math this week, we reviewed and
tested on Unit 3 in math. Overall, I was very
happy with test scores for our class. I think
everyone showed great effort on the final
test. At the end of the week, we started Unit
4, which is a short geometry unit on circles,
angles, and polygons.
We also completed our Unit of
Inquiry, titled Civil Struggles. The central idea
of this planner was that societies have civil
conflicts due to differences. This week
students completed letters for their
summative assessment. They also had a
chance to share their letters with other
students and reflect on all they have done
during this unit. Our next Unit of Inquiry is
titled Agents of Change, to begin on Monday.
We had a week of choice reading
during our Language Arts time. Today, new
books and Book club packets went out. With
our Agents of Change unit, we will be reading
biographies for Book Club. And, our spelling
list this week focused on three types of
compound words.
We were also lucky to have two art
lessons this week. Thanks to Kristin Hansen
and Betsy Diekema for leading us in a Picasso
self-portrait art lesson with us. We will be
saving the work we did for the art show this
spring. And, Kyle from WBCA led a drawing
lesson on Friday. Have a great weekend! 

THE SCHOOL VOLUNTEER
We're very excited about a new
program we are working on. It's called
The School Volunteer and it's an online
volunteer program that allows our
volunteers to register and view all the
areas that we need volunteers for and
sign-up online. In the near future we will
be able streamline our volunteer
systems and connect teacher needs with
volunteers. Keep a look out for more
information coming soon. If you
