1.p[eview on what students already know about nouns.
a.p Ask the students, if they can define what a noun is.
b.p Draw four columns on the blackboard labeled person, place, thing, and non-noun.
c.p iext shuffle the deck of nouns and ask students one by one to come up and draw
a noun card. After, the student draws a card have the student place the card on the
board under one of the categories on the board. ce sure every student is able to
draw a card at least three times.
2.pIntroduce the difference between common and proper nouns, as well as, singular and plural
nouns.
a.p Teach the noun song. Sing through it enough times that majority of the class
knows it.
b.p Ask children to name common nouns, let every child name one next ask the
students for proper nouns. With the list of nouns ask the children to identify
nouns that are plural or singular.
c.p iext divide the students into partners. Then ask every child to fold a piece of
notebook paper in half hotdog style next fold the paper hamburger style. The
paper is now divided into four sections have the children label the two left
sections as proper and singular. The two right sections as plural and common.
Have the children list a proper noun such as Texas in proper section on the same
line across in the common section label it place, etc«Look at the example. Lead
the class and draw ideas from the class.
d.p For fun if time if time allows ask the class to help name new proper and common
nouns to insert into the noun song.

matching proper and common to listed nouns. Along, with children writing nouns and
