RE: Merchandising team changes

We’ve been talking about the need to be more customer driven, and today we’re making
some changes in our U.S. business to put the customer at the center of how we buy and sell
merchandise, whether the item is for a store or online. These moves will continue to bring
our organizations closer together. They build on the work we began two years ago with the
creation of the Customer organization and continued with the integration of our Supply
Chain and Finance operations last year. As we’ve done with the Supply Chain and
Customer organizations, Merchandising will now report jointly to us. We’re also sharing
more details about the new Product team in the Customer organization. Our customers only
see one Walmart, and they must be No.1, always.

Merchandising

In a series of steps, we will be creating one omnichannel Merchandising team. When

complete, there will be six categories:
• Apparel – led by Andy Barron (Andy will also continue to have GM Global Sourcing
and GM Private Brands.)
• Consumables – led by Latriece Watkins
• Entertainment, Toys and Seasonal – led by Jeff Evans
• Food – led by Charles Redfield
• Hardlines – led by Diana Marshall
• Home – led by Anthony Soohoo

Eventually, these six teams will buy every item sold by Walmart in the U.S. Consumables
and Food will start immediately, with these eCommerce teams joining the organizations led
by Latriece and Charles.

The other four areas will come together over time as the eCommerce Fashion,
Entertainment, Enthusiast and Professional and Home areas merge with the categories
listed above. We’ve asked Chandra Holt to serve as Chief Merchandising and Integration
Officer for Walmart eCommerce, and lead the work that will create an omni-merchandising
organization. To start, Chandra’s organization will include Denise Incandela and Phillip
Oakes, along with the Entertainment and Home leadership teams. The Fashion group will
also include Bonobos, with Micky Onvural joining Denise’s leadership team. An exciting new
opportunity for Kieran Shanahan in Walmart International will be shared soon.
Chandra’s position is dual purpose. It’s to continue driving eCommerce business results,
while simultaneously working through the process of integrating the teams as each is ready.
Chandra and Scott McCall will work together on the pace of integration along with the
supporting functions who work with these teams. Chandra and the six Merchandising leads
above, along with Scott Pleiman and John Laney, will report to Scott.

These new responsibilities will be promotions to Executive Vice President for Anthony,
Chandra, Diana and Jeff, and we hope you’ll join us in congratulating them.

Customer organization

In the Customer organization, Janey Whiteside shared details on Friday about the new
Product team, and the note to her organization is attached. As a reminder, we created this
team under Meng Chee to design customer and associate experiences from start to finish
with the end user in mind. She also shared the news that Daniel Eckert has decided to leave
Walmart after 10 years and a proud career that includes receiving the Sam M. Walton
Entrepreneur of the Year award. We wish him the best. Changes to his team are also
covered in Janey’s note.

With the announcements above, the People team is realigning its support for the business.
Elizabeth Ryan and Amy Corona, along with their teams that provide HR support to the
Customer organization and eCommerce Merchandising business partners, will join the U.S.
People team under Julie Murphy.

We’re excited about what these moves toward an omnichannel organization will mean for
our customers and for our business. We must put the customer at the center of everything
we do.
