AWR’s mission then and now is to dramatically increase the productivity of gigahertz
electronic product development. The company’s key differentiator is its core technology,
which embodies years of knowledge and expertise in RF, microwave, and millimeter
wave design. The AWR open and flexible software architecture maximizes user
efficiency by enabling designers to choose the best tool for each part of the design
process and integrating the entire design flow in a single, easy-to-use platform.
I invite you to learn more about AWR and to trial our software yourself.

products
AWR’s software products target integrated circuits (ICs),
multi-chip modules (MCMs), and printed circuit boards
(PCBs) within electronic circuits and systems in the
wireless, high-frequency wire-line, and electro-optical
markets (applications operating above the 1 GHz
frequency range). These solutions include a complete
and integrated suite of EDA tools to streamline the
design process from concept through simulation to final
physical implementation.

The cornerstone of the AWR design flow is its Unified Data Model (UDM),
a unique, single, object-oriented database synchronized at its core, within the
database, not through multiple layers of software and translators. Whether
designs are being driven from the schematic, simulation, or layout, the Microwave
Office design platform provides everything needed to take an idea from concept
MMIC power amplifier layout in Microwave Office. through simulation and directly to physical implementation—all in one platform.
analog office
Based on the success of Microwave Office, sister product Analog Office® focuses
on providing a complete and comprehensive design environment for high-frequency
silicon processes. Because Analog Office shares AWR’s unique single design
environment, it enables users to control and seamlessly integrate
best-in-class tools to capture, synthesize, simulate, optimize, layout,
extract, and verify RFIC designs from system to final tape-out.
axiem 3d em simulator
AXIEM EM software is specifically for 3D planar
applications like RF printed circuit boards (PCBs)
and modules, antenna and antenna arrays, and low
temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC), monolithic
microwave integrated circuit (MMIC), and RFIC
designs.

“The speed and ease of use of Microwave Office together with the accurate passive
component and transistor models allows us to realize first pass design success. We
are also able to create more designs in a given time, which makes our development
engineers more efficient.”
“We strongly believe APLAC offers one of the most advanced analog design platforms
available, and plays a crucial role in helping us live up to our ‘right first time’ design
philosophy.”

Dane Collins has been an integral member of the EDA community for many years,
having managed both development and operations groups at EEsof, Inc., Cadence
Design Systems, and High Level Design Systems (HLD). Dane earned his BSEE in 1983
from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and began his career as a microwave circuit designer
at General Dynamics. In 1998 Dane joined AWR, first as vice president of engineering,
and then as executive vice president. In 2006 he was appointed CEO and has led the
company to many consecutive years of growth and profitability.

CEO
Working on the development of advanced MMICs at Hughes Aircraft in the early
1990s, Dr. Pekarek was frustrated by the inadequacy of many of the leading high-
frequency EDA tools available at the time. In 1994 he returned to school to earn his
Ph.D. and simultaneously launched AWR with the intent of developing a completely
new approach to designing high-frequency circuits. Dr. Pekarek earned his B.S.
in Electrical Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, his
M.S. in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Northridge, with a
specialization in electromagnetics and microwave circuits, and his Ph.D. in Numerical
Electromagnetics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with minors in
Scientific Computing and Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Pekarek holds a patent for a coplanar

he was named IEEE MTT-S Outstanding Young Engineer of the Year in recognition of his
innovation in software design and his outstanding achievement in entrepreneurship.
Ted Miracco combines engineering expertise with extensive sales and marketing
experience at several leading EDA companies, including EEsof, Inc. and Cadence Design
Systems. He joined AWR in 1997, and has been a key force driving the company’s
success in sales and marketing. Ted is currently focused on AWR’s corporate strategy,
including worldwide sales, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate marketing. Ted
holds a B.A. degree from Carnegie Mellon University with double majors in electrical
and computer engineering. He also minored in and taught economics. Ted Miracco
