The exports of the food group grew by 22.4% in the
fiscal year 2007-2008 contributing 26.1% in the
overall exports growth. Imports accounted for 11% of
the total imports thus contributing 16.3% in the over
all growth of imports.

The food industry attracted foreign direct investment

Seedless Kinnow
An official of Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MINFA) said
Pakistan produces 95 percent of total world kinnow
production. It is the sixth largest producer of Kinnow
(mandarin) and oranges in the world, with 2.5 million tonnes.
