WATERTOWN — A man with a personal connection to the “Moose Crossing” sign outside
the Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse was caught trying to steal it from the property.
On Nov. 18 at 9:30 p.m., police responded to the Arsenal Street restaurant – which has
recently been shuttered – for reports of a man with a white pick-up truck attempting to
unfasten the sign on a post next to the building.
When police arrived they allegedly saw the man standing next to the truck and asked him
what he was doing.
“I’m trying to steal the moose crossing sign,” he reportedly said.
When officers asked him why, the man allegedly told them he felt “emotionally attached”
to the sign because he had dined there with his wife several years ago.
According to reports, police observed a hacksaw and pliers sitting on the passenger seat of
the truck.
The 35-year-old Boston man will be summonsed to Waltham District Court for the
attempted larceny at 617 Arsenal St.
