Job Description

Electrical Engineer Intern

position available for Summer 2018. Candidate must be an undergraduate or graduate electrical
engineering major with coursework and/or experience in 3-phase electrical power systems
analysis, electrical distribution systems, relay protection, and electrical distribution system
modeling.
 Responsibilities:

calculations Perform basic calculations such as

1. Voltage Drop,
2. CT burden & saturation,
3. Short Circuit,
4. Relay Setting calculations and
5. Protection coordination studies
Calculations (voltage drop, grounding, lighting, etc.)
Lighting Calculations:
Perform illumination photometric calculations of interior and exterior
lighting designs to determine light levels and code compliance.
Electrical Systems Analysis:
1. Short-circuit,
2. protective device coordination, and
3. arc flash studies using power systems software (SKM Power Tools)

List Engineering lists:

1. load list,
2. equipment list,
3. cable and raceway schedules,

Design Preparation of one-line diagrams,

Preparation of Design Drawings:
AutoCAD drafting of electrical construction documents.

Qualifications and Skills:

Standard Solid knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, and CSA Standards and Codes
Familiarity with Canadian electric utility industry practices
Become knowledgeable with electrical/Instrumentation design and their
practical applications, regional codes and standards (CSA, NEC, IEC, etc.),
various engineering design tools and applications, and Hatch’s quality
procedures
National Electrical Code Compliance: Learn key items in the National
Electrical Code (NEC) and apply to engineering designs.

Technical Understanding of functionalities of Electrical Protection and Control systems

Experience with protection and automation devices and software (ABB, GE,
SEL)
Experience with ETAP, PSCAD, CDEGS and other power system study software
Knowledge of electrical systems designs for industrial facilities.
