Programme Introduction
The Anglia Preparatory English Course (APEC) program is a general language course for all learners
of English. A unique feature of this program is the option for a student to take up an intensive module
to supplement their current learning. The evaluation process has been specially developed and
tailored accordingly to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), an internationally-
recognised system of measuring proficiency in languages, by means of AESL (Anglia Examination
Syndicate Limited). Anglia Examinations has been based in Chichester, England since 1994.

Anglia, which offers an outstanding suite of fully certificated English language assessments designed to
accommodate all ages and levels.

The APEC program is recognized as a secure, valid and reliable indicator of true-to-life ability to communicate
in English for education, immigration and professional accreditation. That is why Auston Faculty of English,
believe that students, employers and educational institutions can benefit from a precise knowledge of the
language levels achieved by our students.

Understanding of Each Level


The Elementary level aim to build a strong foundation in a student’s English language proficiency.

The Pre Intermediate level aim not only to help students achieve communication skills in social conversation,
but also, to communicate effectively in the content area.

The Intermediate and Advanced levels aim to help students prepare for spontaneous interaction and to
achieve communication skills beyond average conversation.
Anglia Preparatory English Course Programme Pathway
APEC offers English courses for students who are on a pathway to study at Auston Institute of Management
(direct through successful completion of APEC programmes) and those who seek to attain a higher level of the
universal language.

ELEMENTARY (Anglia Elementary Level) PRE-INTERMEDIATE (Anglia Pre-Intermediate Level)

Each APEC level comprises of 175 hours.

The duration is 7 weeks of 3 hours daily of Language Fundamentals and an additional 2 hours daily for the
Supplementary Skills Training programmes for each level of the English course.

General Admissions - Entry Requirements


Every foreign student who wishes to pursue any of the academic courses offered by AUSTON is required to attempt
an Online Placement Test ( available at www.auston.edu.sg/placement ) unless they have attained the IELTS equivalent
for entry into the respective levels below:
