VaYigash/And He Drew Near.

Gen. 44:18 – 47:27.

I. As with all Torah Portions, this one conveys a powerful message to the
generation living in this last day. This word Nagash represents the heart of
Judah as he prepares for Teshuvah – Repentance. Gen. 44: 18.

• Came near, #5066, ‫ נגש‬nagash, as a simple verb it means to approach,

draw close. However, the cognate words around it lend further
understanding: #5064, nagar, to pour out, to spill, a gushing out. #5065, nagas,
to oppress, to require payment; #5063, negep, a plague, stumbling, to strike or
be struck. What we see here is something set into motion, Judah is the one
who initially offered to sell Joseph into bondage, now as he offers himself as
surety for Benjamin, he begins a “Tekkun” a word which means to set
something right. He becomes a type of Messiah himself, bearing the brunt of
oppression, and the plagues, which, have struck Judah for centuries – all the
while protecting his brother, Benjamin. Deut. 33: 12, [And] of Benjamin he
said, The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by him; [and the
LORD] shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his
shoulders.

Since Joseph is a type of Messiah, we can see the same pattern in Judas/Judah
selling Yahshua into bondage. Once again, Judah will “Draw Near” in the last
days and offer himself for Benjamin as surety and protector. [We must
determine who Benjamin is]. Joseph is sold for 20 pieces of silver, this is the
gematria of the letter Kaf and also the Hebrew word #264, ‫' אחוה‬achavah,
used only once in Zech. 11: 14. It means ‘brotherhood’. *Note the following
phrase in Hebrew: ‫שָרֵֽאל׃ס‬
ְׂ ‫אֶת־ָֽהַאֲחָוה ֵּבין ְיהּוָדה ּוֵבין ִי‬ Et-
ha’ahavah bein Yehudah uvein Yisrael. YHVH would break the Aleph-Tav
(Joseph) striking the Brotherhood! Ironically, Judas sells Yahshua for 30
pieces of silver (the letter Lamed) 30 being the gematria for Yehudah! So, in
these two numbers 20 – 30, you see the prophecy of Zech. 11:12 - 14, being
fulfilled!

It is no small matter that Judas was from “Iscariot”, GK. #2469, man of
Kerioth, #7152, from the root #7148, qariy, appointed, called. The root stem,
Qof – Resh, qar = to call, summons (qara) & Owth, with the Yod prefixed (My
oath) implies, ‘appointed to my oath’.

It is also no coincidence that Judas was known as the Son of Simon, (Jn. 6:71)
#8095, ‫ שמעון‬shim’on, heard, from #8085, Shema, to hear and obey. In our
previous Torah portion, Gen. 42:24, it is Simeon whom Joseph binds until He
is recognized and Benjamin is embraced. The key word of today’s parsha,
Nagash, is from the root word, #5061, nega, and means to strike with a plague,
as in leprosy. I personally believe that Simon the Leper, the Pharisee in whose
house Yahshua dined was the Father of Judas. He is upbraided for not
recognizing Messiah while it is obvious the Harlot does! The plague of leprosy
that struck in both instances affected {Simeon} the “HEARING” –
DISCERNING OF MESSIAH.

Now, we note that this Torah Portion takes place in the midst of a Famine.
Simeon is “locked up” a picture of “No or absent Hearing”. Amos 8:11 tells of
another Famine regarding Simeon/Shema/Hearing being absent! A famine of
Hearing the Words of YHVH. It was Joseph who had spent the time in the
Tents of Jacob/Eber and was taught the Torah – the Words of YHVH! That
famine will continue until Benjamin returns!

*Note Gen. 41:1, for two years of days, Joseph was in prison, bondage. The
House of Joseph has just now seen its’ prison term end: Two days – 2000yrs.

It was said of Joseph (Gen. 41:15) ‫שַמע ֲחֹלום ִלְפֹּתר ֹאֹֽתו׃‬

ְׁ ‫ִּת‬ tishma
cholem liftor otov. You can understand a dream to interpret it. This indicates
that Joseph would have prophetic insight regarding what was coming and
would cause increase for those who would “Hear HIM” during the famine.

• Chalom, #2472, a dream. It is also closely related to #2470, weak, sick

and #2471, Challah, the bread of His Presence (12 cakes in the Holy Place)
and the word for Bride, Kallah. It is also intertwined around #2474, Challon,
a window or opening, like that in the Ark.

This tells us, “during the famine, the Bride who becomes weak and sickly, will
be restored by feeding on the Bread of His Presence, the Living Manna from
within the Ark! Ironically, when this word is used in its verb form even more
clarity is given.
• Chalam, #2492, to dream, but, also to become strong, powerful through
the natural maturation process. Thus, the Bride will become a Force to reckon
with during the coming Famine!

Properly interpreting the DREAM – FAMINE is crucial: Joseph will.

• Interpret, #6622, ‫ פתר‬pathar, to interpret, to give an answer, solution. If

we note the two-letter stem, 6595, pat, a masc. noun meaning a piece or
morsel, one large enough to serve guests, while also symbolizing not having
enough and how readily one will sin for a morsel of bread. Interestingly,
#6596, Pote, spelled the same as above with different vowel points, represents
a door hinge, but also the private parts of a woman exposed in judgment
visited upon her by YHVH. (Numbs. 5). The Resh on the end of this root,
infers the One Who is Chief will determine the solution! Just as Joseph!

The Choice will be in our hands, we can have more than enough even during
the coming famine, or by virtue of the famine sell ourselves into prostitution
& bondage and be visited by the plagues upon the Babylonian Harlot. Rev. 16
– 18.

Joseph?

II. Let’s revisit the meaning of his name: #3130, ‫ יוסף‬Yowceph, to increase,
do again, to double. Literally, “ The Doubler”. If we break the word apart we
see some interesting things. Yod-Vav, is part of the Tetragrammaton, YHVH
spelling Yah, the Samech-Pey spells ‘saph’, indicating a threshold, doorway. It
is spelled the same as #5585, sa`iyp, without the vowel points, which means a
cleft, fissure, a crack. It can also mean a branch. It is also cognate with #5596,
sapah, to join, to cleave to, to abide in. Joseph is a type of Messiah, The
Doorway, the Pierced Place, the Cleft Rock, The Branch, if we abide in Him
we will be doubled (to produce children, prosper) during the coming famine!

*Note Gen. 44:2 And put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack's mouth of
the youngest, ‫שים ְּבִפי ַאְמַּתַחת‬
ִׂ ‫ְוֶאתְּג־ִביִעי ְּגִביַע ַהֶּכֶסף ָּת‬
‫טן‬
ֹ ‫הָּק‬
ַ Ve'et-gevi'i gevia hakesef tasim befi amtachat hakaton. Let’s
examine a couple of words:
• Cup, #1375, gabiya, a cup or bowl, like the bowls of the Menorah. It also
also represents the flower’s calyx, the protective covering of the private –
hidden parts – it represents the Male private parts that are hidden where the
Light, Oil – Shemen – Semen issues from!

It is also cognate with, #1376, gebiyr, lord, ruler and #1377, gebiyrah, a
feminine noun depicting a queen, a lady. Sons of this wife were considered
FULL BROTHERS! Benjamin was the only Full Brother to Joseph! Hmmm?

• Silver, #3701, ‫ כסף‬keceph, if we break this word apart, you immediately

notice the root stem, Samech – Pey, Caph, the same as Yo-Caph, the Kaf
prefixed to the front means, like or as. Like or as Joseph. The one in whose
sack (a container for seed) the “Like Joseph” Seed is found would be favored
above all brothers! A DNA check!

Why is Benjamin shown such favor? Is it possible that we’ve misinterpreted

who he is? Let’s see!

Benjamin.

III. Benjamin, #1144, ‫ בנימין‬Binyamiyn, Son of the right hand. If we break

this word apart as we’ve been doing, Ben =son, from #1121, banah, to begin to
build, as in a family name: leaving, #3225,‫מין‬
ִ ‫ָי‬the Yod prefixed infers
possession, ‘MY’, the Mem, Yod, Nun, is #4327, miyn, a masc. noun indicating
a kind, a species, that shares common characteristics. Thus, it could be
rendered: To begin to build a family name of MY SPECIES – SEED!

We’re told in Gen. 45: 22 that Joseph gives Benjamin 300 pieces of silver and
5 changes of garments. 300 is the gematria of the letter Shin, and also the
Hebrew word for ransom, Caphar, to ransom, to cover. It is also the value of
the word formed, #3335, ‫ יצר‬yatsar, Benjamin was “formed” after Jacob left
his bondage to Laban, after Jacob and all Israel bow to Esau. Benjamin is
reminded along with the other brothers in Gen. 45:11 there are 5 years of
famine left. HMMM? Five symbols Grace (from being obedient). He is also
given 5 changes of garments. Let’s look here:
• Changes, #2487, ‫ חליפה‬chaliyphah, it refers to changing garments, to
renew, it indicates a new state reached, a changing!

• Raiment, #8071, ‫ שמלה‬simlah, a garment taking the shape of what’s

inside or underneath, it is closely related to the word used in Gen. 1: 27,
tselem, image or likeness. *Note Rev. 3: 4,5:

Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled
their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are
worthy.
3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white
raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life,
but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his
angels.

• Sardis, #4554, Gk. means ‘Red Ones’ – ADAM? A Remnant?

Scripture makes it plain that Yahshua is known as the Rt. Hand of YHVH
and the Rt. arm of His Salvation. However, Yahshua mentions the right hand
in Matt. 25: 31 – 34:

When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy
angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall
separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his
sheep from the goats:
25:33 And he shall set * the sheep on his right hand, but the
goats on the left.
25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand,
Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for
you from the foundation of the world:

Therefore, Benjamin is introduced to the world in the throes of the Last Great
Famine; Judah will be His Companion and both will seek the insight of Joseph
regarding how to survive and prosper – the House becomes One! At the
famines’ end, an exchanging of garments, a renewing (Jer. 31: 31 – 33) a
changing will take place! Benjamin is the Remnant which comes out of
Jacob’s Trouble!
Although there will be all the brothers coming together in Ezek. 37, not all
will be “full brothers”. Remember one of the definitions of Dream, Chalam,
implies a maturation process: because some are at different levels of Torah
and have not fully embraced its Truths. Just as Judah has stood as a covering
for Us, Benjamin, we must also be patient with our brothers, some will not
have the understanding that we do, we must believe that YHVH will reveal
Joseph - Messiah to the Whole House! Even so come!
