I have read here where many people suffer from an acid taste in the mouth. I have a strange taste especially when I seem to
have increased saliva but it doesn't taste like acid. Anyone else experience this?
I was just wondering if anyone has heard of..... or had the procedure done called EsophyX ( Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication
)...It is "suppose to cure Acid reflux...YEAH " right...like we haven't heard that line before....I am going to call the surgeon who did my Nissen
surgery to see if he does this procedure too...I would really love to have "just a little relief...I can live with the burning, belching, stuff in my throat,
not to mention the sore throats...but to be able to breath normal again would be great...God bless.... Patricia
Hi, for a while now, i have pain in my left breast which travels under arm and into the left shoulder blade. A long time ago I did
have a lump removed and all was well. there are lumps which come and go.
I was diagnosed with Gerd and Erosive esophagitis about 2 years ago and was placed on Nexium. It helped immensely. What led
me to get checked in the first place was the lump in the throat and swallowing problems. Well after things cleared up and we lost our insurance, I
stopped the Nexium. I also was not able to get a follow up scope. We still do not have insurance and I have been taking the prilosec otc and
since I foolishly did not change all my eating habits, have had acid reflux back for awhile now and this time I feel worse. I am now choking on
smaller bits of food so today I have started on liquids. I also foolishly typed something in on a search and saw that my symptoms say it is
esophagael cancer. Which I know it could be but when I was scoped I had no Baretts. Do you think cancer could have come on this fast in two
years? I am so scared and as I said I cannot get a scope right now. I hope the liquid diet and the prilosec otc twice daily will heal this. I have also
had chest pain and upper back pain which I did not have two years ago, just the heartburn and swallowing issue. I guess I hope this is a stricture
and not cancer. I just hope someone here can reassure me, maybe if you are having the same symptoms. Thank you so much for reading. And

I have been reading about the Barium Swallow test and it's accuracy in diagnosing reflux. A lot of what I have read says that it's
more useful in diagnosing swallowing problems and that it doesn't always show reflux. So, is it possible to have reflux even though it didn't show
on the test? If this is possible, why do drs. prescribe it if it's more useful for identifying swallowing problems?
Anybody know?
My symptoms started a year ago with an ongoing chest pain. Today I still have chest pains (every day), feel pretty weak at times,
and have joint pain (espceially knees) which increases with chest pain worsening. At times, pain is so bad that I can't function normally - can't
perform at work, can't play with kids, almost can't do anything.
Pain in chest area is almost always there and I could not see any correlation with food. Pain warries - from mild discomfort to squeezing, almost
unbereable, pain that comes and stays for hours. Did manometry which showed low pressure of LES spicnhter and I think data from PH test was
screwed somehow, so no clear results. Pain is almost always associated with joint weakness, especially knees. in general at times feel pretty
weak ... don't know why.
Did varios cardio exams to eliminate heart problems and everything in that area turned alright. Endoscopy revealed mild esophageal
inflammation and small hiatal hearnia. Prevacid/Nexium/Protonix provided no releif at all. I also did chest CT a year ago scan which showed a
nodule which scared me to death and this is when my anxiety was high and I could not sleep. This is when DR put me on 0.5mg Clonazepam
twice a day and Trazodone before sleep. I am still on these two medication.
Routine abdomenal sonogram showed gallstones and HIDA scan showed underfunctioning gallbladder. Recommendation made by multiple DRs
that I remove gallbladder which I did 6 months ago which I did. It did not help.
GI drs can't give me a clear diagnosis which is amazing. Gastro thinks that my symptoms (visited few known gastros in DC area) could not come
from small hernia/low LES spinchter, but could be related to "visceral sensitivity". I was even recommended to see psychatrist - will try it out, but
can't beleive that this could be caused by my mind. I know there could be brain-gut connection, but I don't feel at all that my mind is causing all
this pain unless I can do it without knowing it.
Hope all of us feel mych better in the upcoming year.
Feel helpless sometime with my health problems. Anyone going through similar experience? Thanks. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

basically, my left kidney works 15%, right seems to
be fine. over the last 3 years both my sides & stomach
have been in pain.
a couple of months ago i started getting chest pains,
went to emergency, they checked my heart out
& said things were fine.
last week doc gave me some omeprazole to see
if this solves the chest pain. this seems to help.
i've read a lot of the posts in this section.
i'm now beginning to think that stomach problems
such as acid reflux may be the cause of my aches & pains.
i'm going to the doctor again this week & will ask him for
further tests on acid reflux in my stomach (i assume
i should ask for an endoscope test?).
i've also read a few posts that suggest maybe the gallbladder
might be another area to investigate, maybe i'll ask the doc
about that as well. before the chest pains, the main pain
was in the right side, just above the pelvis (my good kidney
side) which i read might be gallblader symptoms.
i tend to eat pretty healthy, but ocassionaly have beer,
junk food, etc, but this does not particularly bring
on any stomach problems. so i don't think anything
i eat effects my stomach.
sorry for the long post, i tried to be brief & i wanted to
ask if anyone has similar symptoms & any ideas what might be
going on. please, after more than 3 years of this pain,
i'm getting desperate!

I have been having such spasms for about a week now and was put on Nexium by my Internist on Thursday. Still having the spasms, but no
more heartburn. I see a lot of cases where people talk about eating "soda crackers" to help with the spasms. What type of crackers are these?
Are they like saltines or something?
I take a calcuim channel blocker 2x a day since last October after having a bout with SVTs and I think it is a cause for my spasms and heartburn.
Never had any issues until after Christmas with heartburn or "wet burps" until then and hate it.

Hey, I found several interesting articles on this, which is similar to LPR but might explain the aspiration better. All I know is that I
have something no one can seem to figure out and it won't go away. I "Know" something is there and stuck because sometimes I can finally get
a deep breath and bring up crud but it feels like it starts in my sinus coming down after being thrown from my esphogus. It's wearing me out
tonight from being so short of breath and chest hurting. I need to get better to go and take care of my husband.

ok about 8 years ago the doctors ordered one after getting numourous heart tests and all coming out fine. This all happened in a
months time had all heart tests and I was going to have endoscopy done but I couldnt afford it so I cancelled. Well I didnt have insurance and
not enough money to go to the Doctors until 2 years ago. So I went to a doctor and told them years ago they ordered one and I would like one.
So the Doctor put me on prevacid and sent me on my way I got better and they never gave me the endoscopy. Now in May I start with this
horriable LPR thing and acid in my mouth everyday. So I have been going to the doctor maybe 4 times a month since and I still am having a
hard time getting my endoscopy done. I do have one finally ordered but the girls in the office keep messing up my paperwork. I am in
soooooooooo much pain I just want to know once and for all what is wrong and what can be done to fix it. I suffer all day everyday since May
and no help from Doctors. I will be losing insurance soon and I hope to find out more whats causing such extreme symptoms before it does. I
just hope they get my paperwork right so I can finally have some kind of answer. Sorry everyone I just had to vent. Just is so long 7 1/2 months
of suffering with no real help sucks..
