ACARA I
PROTOZOA
Cara kultur :
Siapkan bak berisi 10 l air lalu beri irisan jerami dan kotoran ayam
Biarkan biakan selama kurang lebih seminggu
Apa
alasannya ?
1
5. Banyak hewan avertebrata berukuran kecil. Beberapa kelompok
mampu memperbesar ukuran tubuhnya dengan cara mereplikasi
segmen-segmen tubuhnya. Selain itu, hewan kecil dapat
memperbesar ukurannya dengan membentuk koloni sehingga
masing-masing individu dapat saling bekerja sama. Buatlah esai
yang membandingkan kedua cara memperbesar ukuran tubuh
tersebut ! Berilah contoh filum yang melakukannya dan cantumkan
setiap sumber pustaka (referensi) yang menjadi acuan Anda menulis
esai ini !

4. Tuliskan berbagai variasi bentuk skeleton pada subkelas Octocorallia
(ordo Gorgonacea, Helioporacea, Pennatulacea, Alcyonacea,
Stolonifera) !
ACARA III
PARASIT DAN PARASITISME
5
1. Jelaskan perbedaan Platyhelminthes dan Nematoda ?
2. Walaupun sebagian besar tidak bersifat parasit, beberapa anggota
kelompok Turbelaria memiliki kemampuan “pre-adaptasi”

annul/annelus = cincin, gelang; Yunani eidos = bentuk. Tubuh anggota
ekskresinya metamerik). Saluran pencernaan lengkap (mulut - usus -
anus), berbentuk tubular, memanjang sumbu tubuh. Respirasi dengan
epidermis atau insang (misalnya pada cacing tabung). Organ reproduksi
hermaprodit, dengan hewan langsung berbentuk hewan dewasa (kelas
Oligochaeta dan Hirunidinomorpha); atau dioecious (kelas Polychaeta),
melalui fase larva trochophore.

keras ?
2. Kelas Scaphopoda
Bagaimana scaphopods berorientasi terhadap sedimen ? Tunjukkan
bagian anterior dan posteriornya dengan gambar ilustrasi
(berdasarkan buku teks) lalu beri keterangan !
3. Kelas Bivalvia - Pinctada sp., Mytilus sp., Tridacna sp., Amusium sp.,
Pecten sp.
4. Kelas Gastropoda – Haliotis sp., Pomacea sp., Conus sp., Strombus
sp.
Amati satu spesies Gastropoda lalu gambar dan buat catatan
tentang morfologi, alat sensor, organ respirasi, pergerakan,
kebiasaan makan dan mekanisme pertahanan dirinya !

THE IMPORTANCE OF SUBSTRATES TO INVERTEBRATES
Introduction:
Substrates are critical to the life of invertebrates:
- Provide nutrients for energy.
- Provide protection from predators.
- Provide a means of transport.
- Provide a surface for reproduction.
Paragraph 1:
The nutrients that invertebrates acquire from substrates are essential for the
energy required to grow, develop and reproduce:
- Example: The brown tube sponge (Agelas conifera) is a sessile
organism, which filters nutrients and oxygen from the water to
sustain life.
Paragraph 2:
Substrates provide invertebrates with a physical protection from predators:
- Example: The soil provides the earthworm (Lumbricus terrestris) with
protection against many predators, which live above the surface.
These animals must adapt specialised mechanisms to seek and
capture the earthworm from the soil.
Paragraph 3:
Many invertebrates use their substrate as a means of transport:
- Example: The parasitic copepod Elaphoidella bidens coronata has
limited ability for self locomotion due to its small size. Subsequently,
it relies on water currents to explore new
- areas in search of a host organism.
Paragraph 4:
Egg laying invertebrates require a surface with which to lay their eggs:
- Example: The Ulysses butterfly (Papilio ulysses) lays its eggs on the
underside of leaves of host trees. The leaves protect the eggs from
predators and provide and instant food source for newly hatched
caterpillars.
Conclusion:
Invertebrates utilise substrates for:
- Providing nutrients for energy.
- Providing protection from predators.
- Providing a means of transport.
- Providing a surface for reproduction.
Therefore the substrates play an essential role in supporting invertebrate life.

Conclusion
Become a small invertebrate does not mean cannot survive in the various
complex habitats. Replicating segments and forming colonies allow some
small invertebrates to adapt with various habitat complexities.
