Products

Sponge Iron
Sponge iron is produced when Iron Ore is reduced directly to metallic iron,
usually done with some kind of carbon (charcoal, etc), at temperatures
below the melting point of iron. This results in a spongy mass, consisting of
a mix of incandescent wrought iron and slag. It is a substitute for scrap
and is primarily used in making steel.

The best quality coal is used to manufacture the finest sponge iron. The fundamental raw materials used for
the production of sponge iron are iron ore, non-coking coal and dolomite. Sponge iron is extremely sensitive
to raw material characteristics, so our production process includes vigilant examination of the chemical and
physical characteristics of raw materials, both individually and in combinations.

Billets
Our modern steel billet plant consists of an induction furnace, LRF and a
continuous casting machine. We produce standard 40 feet billets in various
special steel grades as per IS, BIS, NSIC and MES Standards while
controlling quality through continuous testing and process control.

MS Ingots
MS Ingots are the raw material for the rolling mill, manufacturing TMT
Bars. Our manufacturing process is based on the Induction Furnace
Process, wherein MS Ingots are produced by melting Pig Iron and Sponge
Iron together in an Induction Furnace. The Molten metal is then cast into a
shape suitable for further processing. It requires a second procedure of
shaping, by means of moulds to produce the final product ready for the
Rolling Mill. 

TMT Bars
DIIL Thermo Mechanically Treated steel (DIIL TMT steel) is new-
generation- high-strength steel having superior properties such as weld
ability, strength, ductility and bend ability meeting highest quality
standards at international level. Under Thermo Mechanical Treatment of
bars, the steel bars are made to pass through a specially designed water
cooling system where in the outer surface of the bars becomes cold while
the core remains hot. This creates a temperature gradient in the bars.
When the bars are taken out of the cooling system, the heat flows from the
core to the outer surface causing further tempering of steel bars thereby
helping them in attaining higher yield strength.

the required properties as per Indian and International Standards.

Process
DIIL TMT (Thermo-Mechanical-Treatment) is a special heat treatment process, wherein the heat treatment
is right from rolling process.

At the exit of the rolled product, the ribbed bar is subjected to the TMT process across 3 stages.

Stage 1: This involves successive steps of rapid quenching in a special water system converting the surface
layer of ribbed bar into a hardened structure.

Stage 2: This is tempering process, which involves the flow of the heat from the core of the bar to the
surface.

Stage 3: Finally, the bars are cooled in atmospheric air on the cooling bed. This transforms the outer case
of the bar into tempered martensitic state, while internally the bar becomes a fine pearlite core. The TMT
process eliminates all undesirable qualities of the normally treated bar.

The Dhanlaxmi TMT, therefore attains higher strength, and this gives the bar excellent ductility, enhanced
bendability and superiority.
