Commendationn Presentedd to
Sheraton Hawaii Bowl
December 24, 2010
On behalf of the people and State of Hawai`i, we extend our personal greeting of aloha to all the fans gathered at
Aloha Stadium for the 2010 Sheraton Hawai`i Bowl, featuring the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane against our
own UH Warriors.

The Sheraton Hawai`i Bowl epitomizes the very best that collegiate athletics have to offer, and it is my pleasure to wish
the best of luck to both teams. The players’ determination, scholarship and competitive spirit serve as an inspiration to
all -- particularly our island keiki. In addition to their considerable physical talents, the athletes on the field have also
achieved the important milestones of successful high school completion and university attendance. It is my hope that
every child in attendance, and throughout Hawai`i, continues to strive towards these critically important goals.

Let me also thank Sheraton Hotels & Resorts Hawai`i for sponsoring this outstanding event. Sheraton Hawai`i is a
leading member of the Hawai`i business community, whose exceptional resorts greet thousands of visitors annually. We
look forward to collaborating with Sheraton Hawai`i in the future and appreciate their contribution to the islands.

Finally, we would like to especially welcome the visiting players, coaches, their families, as well as all the fans in
attendance, visitor and kama’aina alike. As our residents already know, Hawai`i is a truly amazing place, rich in both
natural and human treasures. Please accept my invitation to explore our pristine beaches, savor our eclectic culinary
offerings, and bask in the warmth of that legendary spirit of aloha for which our people are known the world over.

And, of course, let’s have a great game!

FRIDAY 12/24/10 SHERATON HAWAI‘I BOWL 7

Aloha!
On behalf of The University of Tulsa, I would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Sheraton
Hawai’i Bowl, its Executive Committee and ESPN for the opportunity to participate in this outstanding
postseason event.
The University of Tulsa is extremely excited for the opportunity to play an outstanding University of
Hawai’i football team in such a beautiful location as the Hawaiian Islands.
This bowl berth, our fifth in the last six seasons, is special for our student-athletes, staff, alumni and fans.
I am so happy for and proud of our student-athletes and coaching staff. As the smallest FBS University in
the nation, this season has been a tremendous one with nine wins, a co-championship of the Conference
USA West Division and a win at Notre Dame.
We look forward to this matchup with the University of Hawai’i. As you may know, Tulsa was a Western
Athletic Conference member for nine years and the rivalry created between the two schools, most notably
in football and men’s basketball, was one of the best in the league. The University of Tulsa has a deep
respect for the University of Hawai’i and all of its accomplishments.
We offer a sincere mahalo to all those here in Hawai’i for the warm hospitality extended to everyone
connected with Tulsa – from our team and staff to our alumni and fans. No matter the outcome, we know
today’s game will be played before an appreciative crowd in one of the greatest bowl game settings in
America.

Bubba Cunnigham Aloha and Mele Kalikimaka!

Director of Athletics

Bubba Cunningham

Aloha!
The University of Hawai‘i is thrilled to once again be a part of what has become a Holiday Tradition on
the islands, the Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl.
On behalf of everyone at UH, especially the Athletics Department and the Warrior Football Team, I would
like to express our appreciation and warm mahalo to the Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl, its executive committee,
and ESPN for the opportunity to participate in this outstanding event.
In addition, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our opponent, The University of Tulsa, on
an outstanding season and for capturing a share of Conference USA’s West Division title. To finish the
regular season with six consecutive wins, including a big win at Notre Dame, and to earn a bowl berth for
the third time in the last four years is something their fans should really be proud of.
Likewise, I’m incredibly proud of our players and coaches, who have attained a 10-3 record and captured
a share of the WAC Championship. This title is especially rewarding considering the fact that we were
picked to finish fifth by the WAC football coaches and seventh by the WAC media prior to the season.
Both teams are very fortunate to be playing in the Sheraton Hawai`i Bowl, which has established a
reputation for thrilling action on the field and unparalleled hospitality off the field. The events leading up
to the game are some of the most spectacular of all NCAA postseason bowls and are truly geared toward
rewarding the student-athletes for a job well done during the regular season.
Please enjoy the game and mahalo for supporting the Hawai`i football team during the 2010 regular
season and now in today’s Sheraton Hawai`i Bowl.

TODD GRAHAM
TULSA COACH • FOURTH YEAR (35-17)
The University of Tulsa has enjoyed great success on the football field over the years, and fourth-year head coach Todd Graham has been a part of
rebuilding that tradition as an assistant coach from 2003 to 2005, and taking it to the next level as the Hurricane head coach beginning in 2007.
In four years as Tulsa’s head football coach, Graham has led the Golden Hurricane to a 35-17 record, two Conference USA Western Division
crowns, a share of a third West title this season and three bowl appearances. He has compiled a five-
year career collegiate head coaching mark of 42-33.
In his first two seasons, Graham did what no other Hurricane coach before him had accom-

Totally Dedicated
Team Effort.
I really love being part Ted Tokumine
of a great team. ER Nurse at Straub
for 35 years

The ER nurse got the call

that I was coming in to
Straub at 4:00 a.m.

But that morning,

I came in as a
cardiac case, and
I saw what it’s like
to be a patient.

The Cardiologist was

with me in the ER, and the
surgeon told me I’d be OK.

That’s how it is at Straub.

The whole team comes together for you.

It really mattered, and

I’m glad I was here at Straub.
