This study discusses the effect of POW TREE strategy in writing text
hortatorory exposition to students of eleventh grade IPA in Madarasah Aliyah
Laboratorium. The research is a quantitative research using quasi experiment, while
data collection uses writing test. With sample class experiment 23 students and
control class 23 people. Researchers found that the effect of hortatory exposition
writing text writing using POW TREE strategy increased after experimental
treatment.
The results that researchers found were; 1). The influence between before being
taught with POW TREE strategy and after taught by POW TREE strategy proved
with result of paired sample t-test 2.08 <2,592, this means H 0 was rejected. 2) There
was a significant effect between the class taught by the POW TREE strategy and the
class did not teach using the strategy. It can be proved by independent t-test results
found that was 2.02 <2.764> 2.66. This means H O was rejected.

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini membahas tentang pengaruh strategi POW TREE dalam menulis
teks exposisi hortatori kepada siswa kelas sebelas IPA 1 di Madarasah Aliyah
Laboratorium penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitaif ddengan menggunakan
kuasi eksperiment, sedangkan pengumpulan data menggunakan tes menulis. Dengan
sample dikelas eksperiment 23 siswa dan kelas kontrol 23 orang. Peneliti menemukan
bahwa adanya pengaruh dari pengajaran menulis teks hortatori eksposisi
menggunakan strategy POW TREE meningkat setelah dilakukannya perlakuan di
kelas eksperiment.
Hasil yang peneliti temukan adalah; 1). Adanya pengaruh antara sebelum
diajarkan dengan strategy POW TREE dan setelah menggunakan strategi POW

TREE dibuktikan dengan hasil paired sample t-test 2,08<2,592 t tabel <t hitung, ini berarti
H 0 ditolak. 2) adanya pengaruh signifikan antara kelas yang diajarkan dengan strategi POW
TREE dan kelas yang tidak diajarkan menggunakan strategi itu. Dapat dibuktikan dengan
hasil independent t-test ditemukan bahwa thitung > ttabel adalah 2,02<2,764> 2,66. Ini berarti
H O ditolak.
