This lesson was carried out on Thursday 8 th of July with the year 2 pupils.
What I did well is using the song which the pupils are familiar with and
adapt it to something related to their world. Quite a number of pupils in
the class were familiar with Pak Kassim who owns a small farm behind the
school. This made the lesson more interesting and encourage pupils
participation. All the pupils were able to pay attention and respond to the
tasks given. The pupils were also able to use their previous knowledge to
make this lesson meaningful and achieve the objectives.
I did not do well in organising the activities and time planning. Too much
activities were planned due to my anxiousness to carry out this lesson.
There were too many activities at the while listening stage Therefore this
lesson took more than 60 minutes to be completed.
What I would change is lessen the activities at the while listening stage.
Pupils need to listen more than once in order to fulfil the task. Two
activities would be reasonable and appropriate. True /false activity could
be done after the matching activity and ‘completing the lyrics ‘ activity is
not necessary as it is too easy for the pupils who are in the excellent
class.
