LISTENING LESSON PLAN

Time: 15 minutes
Level: Intermediate
Gender: Male/Female
Age: 15-17
Materials: Handouts, photos
Interaction: Ss-Ss, T-Ss
Assumptions: They know many of the grammatical patterns
and they can understand the text.
Anticipated Problems: Ss may have difficulty in catching the
names of the people in the text, so filling the chart may be
difficult.

OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the students
1) Will have improved their listening skill.
2) Will have understood the listening text.
3) Will have improved their speaking skills with the help of
the listening skill.

PRE-LISTENING
Time: 5 minutes
Materials: photos
Interaction: Ss-ss, T-ss
What students do: They will talk about internet by answering
the questions the teacher asks.
Grouping: Whole class
Aims:
- To motivate the students
-To draw students’ attention to the topic

STEPS
1) The teacher shows some photos and asks what Ss see on
the photos(they are about internet usage)
2) The teacher asks Ss for what they use internet and the Ss
talk about it
3) The teacher tells that their listening text is also about
internet usage and s/he wants students to guess that for
what the people in the listening text use internet.

WHILE-LISTENING
Time: 10 minutes
Materials: worksheets, listening text
Interaction: Ss-ss, T-ss
What students do: They will listen to recording, answer the
questions and try to understand whether their predictions
overlapped or not, fill in the chart according to the text.
Grouping: Individual-groups
Aims: The students will understand the listening text clearly

FIRST LISTENING
Aims:
- To have the students get the gist of the text.
- To check whether their predictions are correct or not.

STEPS
1) The teacher asks students “How many people are talking?
Where are they?
2) They check if their predictions overlap.

SECOND LISTENING
Aims:
-To get the students understand the text in detail
-To get the spesific information about the text.

STEPS
1) The teacher wants Ss to listen again and fill in the chart
2) The teacher divides the students into two groups and gives
some cards on which the answers are written
3) Then the teacher wants them to compare their answers
with their group memmbers and then stick the answers on
the board when the teacher says “start”
4) The group which makes correctly wins
POST-LISTENING
Time: ---
Materials: ---
Interaction: Ss-ss
What students do: They study with their group members and
they make up a discussion program and act it out.
Grouping: Group working
Aims:
- To improve students’ speaking skills
- To encourge students to use authentic language

STEPS
1)The teacher divides students into groups of five
2)The teacher wants Ss to make up a discussion program
about the benefits and harms of internet. One of them will
be moderator and others will be guests.
3)Then the students act it out.
