Agency: Seniors’ Resource Center (SRC), located at 3227 Chase Street, Denver, CO 80212, is a 501(c)(3) non-
profit organization, is a 32-year-old community partner providing intensive Transportation, Adult Day & Respite
Services, In-Home Care Services, mental health outreach, Job Training Services, Volunteer opportunities and
Care Management Services to keep seniors independent and at home for as long as possible.

Basic Function: SRC is seeking a student documentary film intern to support a national online video advocacy
campaign. The Elder Voices for Economic Security Advocacy Initiative campaign, developed by the National
Council on Aging (NCoA), will engage older adults to share their personal stories through video in an effort to
achieve significant public policy changes that address key aspects of economic security for low-income seniors.

The student will work with SRC to capture video footage to create at least three videos that are three to five
minutes in length and focused on economic security and older adults. The student will also serve as a resource on
production and creative and technical support.

Requirements/Skills: Currently enrolled in a college specializing in producing videos, films and documentary
style work and have intermediate level video production and editing skills, interest in working directly in the
community, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, familiarity with logging/transcription, working
knowledge of FCP, ability to work autonomously and with others, ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and
work with a high degree of detail, and ability to travel around suburban Jefferson County.

1. Student will film video segments at community locations in suburban Jefferson County.

2. Student will accompany SRC employees to events at which individuals will be filmed for this campaign.
Most of this filming will be conducted in January and February 2011.

3. Student will provide onsite video services approximately 5 to 8 hours per month beginning in late
December 2010 or early January 2011 and continuing to March 2011.

4. Student should have demonstrated interest in or knowledge of using video for advocacy.

Responsibilities: The two primary objectives of this video campaign:

1. Achieve significant public policy changes that address three key aspects of economic security for low-income seniors:

• Under-participation in major public benefits.


• Lack of coordinated access to a comprehensive array of financial and social services that can improve
economic security.
• Inadequate and under-financed infrastructure for supporting advocacy by and on behalf of disadvantaged
older adults.

2. Engage disadvantaged elders in advocacy and policy change. Test strategies and processes for “giving voice” to
minority and marginalized groups and engaging older adults in identifying problems and advocating for specific policy
solutions.
