BIBLE STUDY
DISCIPLE I
Becoming Disciples
Through Bible Study
DISCIPLE I, a 34-week study of the entire Bible with
an equal emphasis on the Old Testament and the New
Testament is scheduled to begin on MONDAY, MARCH
7, 2011, at 6:30 pm. Bro. Denman Frazer will be the
facilitator.
This study provides the fellowship of the small group
for study, prayer, and preparation for servanthood.
Participants become committed to living as disciples as
they examine the 34 Marks of Discipleship. This study is
the foundation for the other DISCIPLE Bible studies.
Make your plans now to join this class. Questions about
the study? Ask Bro. Denman or anyone who recently
completed the DISCIPLE II Class (the 2nd study in the
DISCIPLE series) and they will tell you what it means
to be a participant in these studies –Terri Anderson,
Barbara Broersma, Brenda Pelfrey, Carol Powers, Janice
Slaughter, Sherry Smith, Shirley Vaughn and Kristin
Willocks.
A SIGN UP SHEET is in the Library on the round table
or you can call the church office and ask the secretary,
Vickie Brewington to add your name to the list. Each
participant is required to purchase a student’s book. The
books will be available on the first night.
Evangelism Team
This Wednesday Night
Hey all, I know that some of you have been asking
if we could have something this Wednesday night
during our normal time. This Wednesday we will
have a movie night on our brand new HD flat screen.
Thanks to Marci and Trey for helping us acquire the
new TV! Note: we might run a little bit later than
our normal 7:30 depending on the movie we choose.
Reminder: All other regular classes adult
classes will still not be happening, so parents
please plan accordingly.
Warmth in Winter: Jan. 21-23 2011
You should already know about Warmth in
Winter. I need forms this week or else the
rate jumps from $75 to $90 per person after
Wednesday if I don’t have your forms. Please

COVER ART INTERPRETATION
THE UPPER ROOM
JANUARY – FEBRUARY 2011
When you read your Upper Room devotional this
week, take the time to read and study the Cover Art
Interpretation (Page 2) of the painting “Flight into Egypt”
by the Russian Artist, Vasiliy Myazin. The picture was
painted around 1987. The artist died in 2008 at the age
of 72.
The Interpreter, Mona Bagasao-Cave, tells us to look
closely at the face of Joseph who again follows the orders
of an angel who keeps asking for more and more. This
time he journeys into the unknown. The Interpreter asks
us “could the look on Joseph’s face be one that the artist
had seen on the faces of those around him….?”
How many families in the world were displaced in
2010 because of flooding, earthquakes, civil unrest,
loss of income, etc. The Interpreter leaves us with the
question: “How do we respond to the reality of similar
misery in our here and now?”
All of us should spend some time with God each day.
The daily devotional in The Upper Room is a good
place to start. It can be “Your Place to Meet God” every
day of 2011. Join 3 million other people across the globe
who read, pray and share their stories through these
