Haiti: Funding Raised & Spent

As a part of the Haiti Aid Map initiative (http://www.haitiaidmap.org), conducted between May and
December of 2010, InterAction members working in response to the January 12 Haiti earthquake were
asked to provide funding information, detailing amounts raised and spent from private, U.S.
government and other sources according to the following guidance:

Private Funding Raised: Includes funding from individuals, corporations and foundations. Does not
include private funding that may have been received from other NGOs.

Private Funding Spent: Amount of funding spent on implementation of aid activities (e.g. procurement of
goods, provision of services, salaries, etc.). In order to prevent double counting, transfers or pass-throughs
to other organizations are not counted as “spent.” Spending figures are not reported by organization—only
in aggregate.

Other Funding: Amounts reflect total funding received from multilaterals (e.g. World Bank, UN agencies)
and other official bilateral donors (e.g. Australian Agency for International Development (AusAid), Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA)).

Relief: Aid provided to save lives and/or to meet immediate urgent needs. For example, medicines
provided to a camp clinic.

Reconstruction: Aid provided to help individuals and/or communities rebuild their lives in medium term.
For example, aid to rebuild a clinic in a community and train staff to provide services.

The figures below reflect the most up-to-date information InterAction was able to obtain from 66 of its
member organizations. They do not represent funding information from all members working in Haiti.

Notes

Funding information represent those of InterAction members and non-U.S. affiliates.

Funding information provided by federations includes funds raised by non-U.S. affiliates, such as Oxfam Great Britain, Save the
Children Australia, BRAC Haiti, etc.

Due to varying financial cycles, funding amounts spent do not reflect funds spent as of December 2010 (e.g. many organizations
reporting in December report figures as of October 31, 2010)
