copied to or from your StoreJet
drive will be transferred at the
standard USB speed.

5. If you click the icon of the hard

disk again, the StoreJet file
transfer speed will switch back to
"Turbo" mode.

7
"Turbo" mode increases transfer
efficiency for faster overall hard drive
performance.

"Normal" mode sets the StoreJet

transfer rate to common USB hard
drive speed.

Benchmarking

• There are two types of benchmarking tools for testing the transfer efficiency of a hard drive.
The first type is based on low level read/write sectors, such as HD-Tune and HD-Tach. These
programs work on a similar testing principle, and their the tested read/write block value can be
set by the user in the disparity range of 4K-64K. These types of testing tools are suitable for
testing the read/write rate of a hard disk based on mechanical attributes.

• The other method of testing hard drive speed is based on moving (reading and then writing)
files. Benchmark utilities that use this method include HDbench, FDDbench, CrystalDiskMark
and ATTO. Unlike HD-Tune and HD-Tach, the size of read/write block is decided by the
operating system. This type of benchmarking is more practical, as most end-users often
perform basic file copying, moving, creating, and deleting. Consequently, test results
obtained from these types of software tools are closer to what a user might experience in
actual usage, and are more representative of real-world interface bandwidth.

53% Faster Benchmark Results

Test Setup:
Platform
CPU AMD Phenom X3 8450 (2.1GHz)
Motherboard GA-MA78G-DS3H
RAM DDR2 800MHz 2GB
Hard Drive ST3250410AS 250GB SATA
System Software & Drivers
Operating System Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2
Software Application TurboHDD USB Ver 1.XX.XX
External Enclosure TSXXSJXXX

Benchmark Software
CrystalDiskMark Version: 2.1
Data Size: 500MB

Results:

13
• Based on sequential read of 500MB of data, the read speed when using TurboHDD USB is
53.1% faster than a common USB hard drive (TurboHDD disabled).
• Based on sequential write of 500MB of data, the write performance of TurboHDD USB is 23.7%
faster than a common USB drive(TurboHDD disabled).
• Note: Benchmark results can vary greatly depending on the testing environment used, as well
as many different factors such as the speed of the system disk (usually faster than the USB
hard disk), the USB host controller (AMD is faster than Intel), USB 1.1 vs. USB2.0, multi-core
vs. single core processing, and more.
