1-1 Netbooks
• This is a program where students are issued
with individual computers for use throughout
the day.
• This week is our first time and is being
introduced for year 9 only. Later in the year
year 10 will come on board and next year it
will apply to other groups.
• At this stage students may not take the
netbooks home. (This may change)

From the Text CDROM

• You can create your own simple lessons as
powerpoints from a CDROM supplied with your
text.
• This is an easy starting point as a cut and paste
with more control for the traditional teacher.
• Takes about 10 minutes to prepare a lesson.
• The advantages are that you can go back rather
than rewriting examples you just rubbed off the
board and that it matches their texts exactly.

Practical Approach
• It is important that practical activities are
included as much as possible as this gives
students room to explore particularly in a
mixed ability classroom.
• Practical activities include computer based
research eg from the Australian Bureau of
Statistics which has a site directed at school
students.
• Activities are available for teachers to use.
AUSTRALIAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL MALAYSIA

Physics
• Physics has a 60% theory and 40% practical
requirement.
• There are both core units and optional topics
to cater for the needs of particular groups of
students.

Physics
• Research and familiarity with current progress
is vital to student interest to view physics as a
dynamic subject.
• You can direct students to many websites
which utilise flash media for animations of
physics concepts.
• Encourage students to keep up to date with
RSS feeds to their home page on yahoo etc.
