Why do you need this booklet?

❏ No standard for PVC fabricated fittings in 8” diameter and
above has ever existed-until now.
❏ There is now an ASTM standard F1866. A sample is
enclosed for your use.
❏ PVC has demonstrated advantages over iron pipe,
including cost, durability, long life, and ease of
installations.
❏ Freedom Plastics is the only manufacturer in the U.S.A. of
large-diameter PVC pipe and fittings for drain, waste, and
vent.
❏ This booklet makes it easy for you to specify a complete
large-diameter PVC system for DWV and related
applications.

About the ASTM Standard For PVC Plastic Schedule 40

Drainage and DWV Fabricated Fittings
The previous section includes an actual draft of the ASTM F1866 standard. Briefly, though, this
specification covers requirements and test methods for fabricated PVC plastic schedule 40 drainage
and DWV fittings to be used with piping manufactured to ASTM Specification D 2665, D 1785, or
F 891. This specification is written to provide fabricated PVC fittings suitable for drainage and
venting of sanitary waste systems, storm water systems, and certain other liquid wastes.
Freedom Plastics, in an effort to promote quality in the industry, wrote and has promoted this
specification. Freedom is also the only manufacturer that is NSF Certified to this standard. 3
