Description
This on-line animation assesses the students' ability to accurately tally the number of different types of food that pass
along a supermarket checkout conveyor belt and complete a bar graph of their data.

Task administration
[Equipment: Computer with Internet access.]
• This task assesses the students' ability to accurately collect data on the types of fruit that pass along a supermarket
checkout conveyor belt. They are required to record their data into a tally chart, and then complete a bar graph.
• For each student print out a copy of the Instructions and Worksheet below.
• Students will need to go to the ARB Website to do this activity.

This task requires that your Internet browser has the program "Flash" installed.

1. If you can read "Flash is installed" here your computer can run
the animation. Go to step 3.

2. If you cannot see "Flash is installed" click this link and follow the
instructions. Then go to step 3.

3. Click on the animation button:


• The button with begin the vehicles moving, the button will take you back to the beginning to
the task.
• The speed that the animation runs, in part, will depend on your computer and its connection. To make the animation
run faster position the mouse cursor over the animation and press the right mouse button. When the menu appears
select 'quality' then select 'low' or 'medium'.
• To get the animation to fill the entire screen, follow these instructions:
Internet Explorer – Press F11 to make browser go to full screen.
Netscape – Go to View and hide all the toolbars.
