“FOR THE GUN”

It was in New York on December 20, 1997. Dick Levinson, 42 of west


bury, he had tried to rob the first National Bank of New York using a plstic
pistol.
The thief went into teh bank at 2 p.m., he had threatened customers and
tellers, and had told employess to hand over all the money.
Recognizing the pistol as a fake, John Dawson, one of the tellers had
pushed the alarm buttin. When the police arrived, they had found Levinson still
inside the bank. Officers Barbadge and Carmichael handcuffed and took him to
station 42, where the thief is now awaiting trial.
When asked why he had attempted such a foolish plan, Levinsion replied,
“ I need the money to buy a real gun.”
