INTRODUCTTON TheQuadCD playeris designed fortheseriousmusiclistener.lt hasthe 3

programming permitstracksto be selectedand playedin any sequence.

rearpaneland frontpanelshouldalsobe removed.Disconnect fromthe

Top Cover(Fig1) a) Removethe 4 screwsmarked(A) and liftoff. Theseare accessiblefrom


beneaththe unit. Noteon reassembly

Rear Panel (Fig 2) a) Removethe 2 screws(B) from the back.

b) Removethe 4 screws(C) fromthe inside, 2lo eachsidebracket,


togetherwithwashers.

c) Liftthe rear paneloff by gentlypullingit backwards.

Front panel (Fig 2) a) Removescrew(G) throughthe displayPCB,takingcareto remove


the spacingwasherbetweenthe displayand the frontpanel.

b) Removethe 4 screws(F),togetherwithwashers,2 to eachof the


side brackets.

c) Liftoff the panel. Notethatthe drawerbuttonis looseand will come


out withthe Panel.

Removetop coverand frontpanel.

RemovingpCB To removethe mainPCB and CD mechanism(on earlymodels)the drawer


CompleteWitn CO tray has to be takenout to allowaccessto one of the retainingscrews.(T),
Mechanism(Fig 2) on laterversionsthis is accessiblewiththe drawerfullyopen. lf not proceed
as follows:-

a) procedureas explainedabove.
Followdismantling

b) Gentlyslidethe drawerout as far as possible. t


c) Liftflap (J) and swivelit over to allowit to lay on its back. Take care
not to disengageeitherof the pivotpoints(P) or the spring(S).
(notethatthe springmay be fittedto eithersideof the mechanism).

d) Gripthe drawerat the front,withthe fingersunderneath to preventthe


disctray from fallingout, and slideit fullyout,tiltingit downwards once
it has clearedthe rearsliderbearings. Remember to lay the drawer
upsidedownotherwisethe disctraywilldropout'

e) Removethe 6 screws(L),2 of theseare accessible from underneath


(see
the uinit Fig 1), and the 4 screws (K) throughthe mains
transformer,alsothe frontscrew (T)'

f) The completeassemblycan now be liftedout.

a) Laryiire assemblyupsicledown and removethe 2 screws(N).

b) Lift PCB and carefullyunplugthe flat cable (V) and the 2 connectors
(W) and (X),(Seeexplodedview).

Note: The socket(v) is a lockabletype. Liftthe outershroud to release


and pushit downto lock.

c) The CD mechanismcan now be removedand, if necessaryreplaced.


Shouldthe CD mechanismbe replacedit is importantthatthe focus
adjustmentand lasercurrentare set as shownon page (12).

d) To replacethe mechanismsecurethe CD mechanism to the main


PCB withthe two screwsin the frontpillarsensuringany spacing
washersare correctlyfitted.

Note : When replacingthe CD mechanismensurethatthe switchlink


assemblyis correctlyengaged. On earlyunitsthe switchrod may be glued
to the plasticswitchconnector,to separatethe switchlink mechanismit may
be necessaryto exerta twistingpressurebetweenthe rod and connector.
On latermodelsrubberadjustmentringsare fittedbeneaththe frontscrews
on the CD mechanism, to allowaccuratedraweralignmentwithinthe front
aperture.

t To Replace Display Theseare accessible fromthe undersideof the displayPCB,as shown


Bulbs (Fig 4) below.Turn the plasticbulb cap approximately114turn anticlockwise,
to release,and liftout. Thesecan be quitetight. When refittingplease
ensurebothbulbsare turnedll4turn clockwiseto engagecorrectly.

correctrating. Facilitiesare providedfor operationfrom four different
voltageranges,110V,127V,220Vand 240V. Howeverin practicethe
'100V
127V and 240Vsettingsare suitablefor mostapplicationsbut for
supplies(Japan)the 110Vtaps shouldbe used.
