mine and it is an area I have directed my academic studies towards.

Career Summary

2wheels Cycles (Regional Manager - Monkstown)


Dates: June 2010 – Present
Responsible for the regional management of the newly opened store based in Monkstown. Along with day-to-day
operations, the role requires identification of growth and business opportunities for the company.
Key Responsibilities / Achievements:
Team Management – Supported and coached staff in the development of the overall company business plan and
their individual KPI’s. Assisting the team in the development of personal goal-orientated targets.
Event Management - Collaborated with Temple Street Children’s Hospital (TSCH), POD Promotions, An Garda
Siochana, suppliers and logistics to plan, organise and execute the large scale charity cycling event Tour De Picnic
which raised over €350,000 for TSCH.
Business Development – Initiated a drive for local residential and SME’s business.
Sales Promotions – Implemented sales strategies, devised by the management team, targeting large businesses in
conjunction with the Cycle to Work scheme.

Responsible for the physical conditioning and medical care of four senior squads in rugby & gaelic footballing clubs.
The roles required consistent care for each of the clubs players and demanded effective time management.
Key Responsibilities / Achievements:
Player Management – Management of players well being was primary to the player being able to return to play in
a fit condition.
Emergency Care – Each event required planning in terms of emergency care for the players. It was essential to build
a rapport with local emergency care providers.
Record Keeping – Essential to have up-to-date and accurate player information for referral.
Season Planning – Effective planning allowed players to perform during the competitive season at their desired
peak standard of physical fitness.

National Centre for Sensor Research (Beaufort Research Scholarship)


Dates: June 2009 - September 2009
I won a research scholarship at the NCSR which gave me the opportunity to undertake research that was outside the
academic work I was completing for my undergraduate degree.
Key Responsibilities / Achievements:
Laboratory Research – Working in a practical laboratory setting investigating various topographical surface areas
of numerous materials and their effect in a marine environment.
Data Recording – Writing up and recording of data from investigations.
Beaufort Research Symposium – At the end of the programme, a two day symposium was attended where I gave
a number of presentations from the research I undertook.

Harvard School of Medicine (Clinical Internship at Boston Children’s Hospital)


Dates: June 2008 – September 2008
I obtained a valuable internship at the Sports Medicine Clinic where I was able to study under the guidance of one of
the top orthopaedic surgeons in North America Dr. Lyle Micheli and Brian Fitzgerald ATC.
Key Responsibilities / Achievements:
Patient Assessment & Care – Subjectively and objectively assessed patients.
Case Presentations – On assessment of patients I was able to present my findings to a range of orthopaedic
specialists.
Surgical Observation – Observed a range of sports medicine surgeries including: ACL reconstruction (adult &
adolescent), discoid meniscus, meniscal repair/removal, knee joint biopsy.

Other Employers
Elite Rugby Development : A successful summer rugby camp I set up with a business partner. We ran three
week-long courses in August 2010. (www.erd.ie)
Richmond Properties (2006-2010): Owning over 25 different bars, restaurants and nightclubs in the
Dublin area. I worked as a Head Barman in a number of their clubs over a four year period.
Crunch Fitness Premier (2004-2006): Worked as a fitness instructor giving spinning, aerobics, toning and
one-to-one sessions to private members.
Motiv8 (2010) : Worked with the “Motiv8 Academy” educating 8-16yr olds on core fitness elements
including conditioning, goal-setting, mental-preparation, injury prevention amongst others

Personal Interests
Personal Training: Fully qualified personal trainer and sports masseur. Have developed a private client base
(including local sporting clubs) where I have devised and implemented team and individual fitness regimes.
Rugby (Lansdowne RFC): Have played for the club since 2002 where I have captained teams and won numer ous

trophies (U20’s; Senior XV; Senior 2 XV)
Voluntary Work: I regularly volunteer for the DSPCA (Dublin Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and most
recently as Santa for their “Santa Experience”.
Keeping Fit: Personally I like to keep fit over a broad spectrum of fitness methods including cycling, swimming,
jogging, Pilates and weight training.
