Why are you interested in working as a volunteer for the Iona Community?
I realize that the working day would be long and often tiring, but I think living in the Community would also offer me the
chance to worship and share with like-minded people who want to draw closer to God. I hope that I could learn among other
things how to give time each day to developing the spiritual side of my life, and find new directions to explore in this respect.
Helping in the work of the Community seems to me to be a worthwhile way to spend some of the free time I am fortunate
enough to be given next year, and I hope I could benefit both others and myself by volunteering.

Some, but not all, of our volunteering positions are physically demanding eg lifting; bending; standing for long periods of time.
Do you have any health, medical conditions or special needs which make one of these positions difficult for you?
– if so please specify. (Please see the declaration at question 5)

No, I am in good health.

Because of the nature of our work, which includes providing accommodation and recreational facilities for young people,
Section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 does not apply, and we need to know about any spent convictions as
provided for by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exemptions) Order 1975.

Have you been convicted of a criminal offence or have you any criminal charges pending? _____No________________
If YES, please complete the attached declaration form and return it with this application form. This will not necessarily
preclude you from volunteering with the Iona Community and all information given will be treated in strict confidence.

For certain voluntary posts involving regular contact with children, young people or vulnerable adults you will be required to
complete a Scottish Criminal Records Office disclosure. Applicants residing outside of the UK will be required to provide a
criminal records disclosure from your national records office or police department.
4. References
Please give details of two people who are willing to act as referees for you. We will contact your referees soon after we
receive your application form, if possible by email. Please note that we will be unable to offer you a position until we
have received both references. You should therefore ensure that your referees are able to respond promptly to our request for
a reference.

Referee 1 should be able to comment on your work abilities, Referee 2 should be able to provide a personal reference, eg
eg a former employer, work supervisor or tutor: a family friend or your Minister, but NOT a close relative:
