WHAT IS PATHFINDER SUPPORT BUNDLE (PSB)?
The PSB includes all of Pathfinder’s data-mining tools with a customized information search engine
and an extraction capability. A wide array of sophisticated and tightly integrated text data-mining and
knowledge discovery tools adds structure to the vast online collection of unstructured text documents
and data. This added structure and suite of tools can be used by analysts to help them build high-
precision queries that minimize false hits and maximize analyst productivity.
The PSB has been subjected to the U.S. Department of Defense Intelligence Information System
(DoDIIS) Management Board testing and accreditation process, including integration testing, interop-
erability testing and security testing. The PSB (version 5.6) has been certified at Protection Level 3
(PL3) and is fully accredited to operate at multiple levels of security.

No one knows the needs and demands of intelligence like the analyst who works hard each day to
solve complex problems for their organization. The PSB team has long recognized the importance of
user input to build exceptionally useful tools, and as a result, SAIC continually gathers direct input
through periodic client assessments, conferences and constant dialogue with intelligence analysts who
use Pathfinder.
TRAINING & SUPPORT
SAIC provides a full range of installation and support services, including operations and maintenance
support (site surveys, data mapping/loading, installation) and administration support (data manage-
ment/migration, data management, customized dictionary development). In addition to extensive user
and administrative guides, Pathfinder contains embedded online help that provides complete, step-by-
step instructions for using the tools.
SAIC also provides a full range of training classes for all levels of Pathfinder users, including user,
deskside, administration and analytical process training classes. Each class is tailored to provide for
maximum benefit to each student.

SAIC’s PSB development is based on a simple premise: to provide analysts
with simple, intuitive, easy-to-use, yet powerful tools to enhance and sim-
plify their daily tasks.
Full Text Search
The query is the cornerstone of data mining and the starting point for all other PSB data-mining tools.
PSB supports an extended Boolean syntax (i.e., proximity, field search, and complex
nested queries) to return the most relevant data. This frees the analyst to spend more time
analyzing and less time screening unwanted data.
Results Window
The Results Window is the gateway to all of PSB’s advanced tool suite and allows the
user to rank, sort, export, and print the results of complex queries.
Cameo
PSB's Cameo data categorization and modeling tool provides the analyst with features for
creating high-precision, query-based models to categorize high-volume historical databases and
monitor new data to quickly identify threat information. With its alert features, this tool is es-
pecially useful for indications and warning analysis.
Geoplot Entities and PF Map Viewer Tools
The Geoplot Entities tool allows the user to identify geographic coordinates (latitude and lon-
gitude, decimal degrees, and MGRS) within a specified proximity to a keyword search term
in a result set. The user may then associate an icon or symbol, including U.S. military stan-
dard 2525B symbols, within the location and automatically plot it on U.S. National Geospa-
tial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) standard mapping products. Overlays may be exported to
GOTS and COTS applications, including ESRI's ArcView and ArcGIS geospatial informa-
tion system products, FalconView and FalconLite mission-planning software packages, and
C2PC.
Personal Information Manager (PIM)
PIM provides a system for storing and annotating records. Often used as a complement to
Cameo, it provides long-term storage for results and analyst commentary.
Export to i2 Analyst Notebook
PSB automates population of i2’s highly successful link analysis tool set. This tool is
particularly useful in linking seemingly disparate activities together to visualize rela-
tionships.
Route-Based Search
The route-based search tool allows users to geographically define a route and use this
route, or region of interest (ROI), to filter their Pathfinder results.
