SAFETY INFORMATION

For your safety, read this manual thoroughly

before operating attachment

The EHP Series Tire Changers equipped with the Mh320/Mh310 are intended for use by
properly trained automotive technicians. The safety messages presented in this sec-
tion and throughout the manual are reminders to the operator to exercise extreme care
when changing tires with these products.

There are many variations in procedures, techniques, tools, and parts for changing
tires, as well as the skill of the individual doing the work. Because of the vast number of
wheel and tire applications and potential uses of the product, the manufacturer cannot
possibly anticipate or provide advice or safety messages to cover every situation. It is
the automotive technician's responsibility to be knowledgeable of the wheels and tires
being changed. It is essential to use proper service methods and change tires in an
appropriate and acceptable manner that does not endanger your safety, the safety of
others in the work area or the equipment or vehicle being serviced.

It is assumed that, prior to using the EHP Series Tire Changers, the operator has a
thorough understanding of the wheels and tires being changed. In addition, it is as-
sumed he has a thorough knowledge of the operation and safety features of the rack,
lift, or floor jack being utilized, and has the proper hand and power tools necessary to
service the vehicle in a safe manner.

Before using the EHP Series Tire Changers, always refer to and follow the safety mes-
sages and service procedures provided by the manufacturers of the equipment being
used and the vehicle being serviced.

Insure that enough space is left around the machine to

prevent compression or entrapping hazards.

Make sure that from the operating position, the opera-

tor can see all the machine and the surrounding area.

The operator shall forbid the presence of non authorized

persons and of objects which may create possible haz-

5.0 USE AS A DEMOUNTING ASSISTANT

5.1 - In order to make lowered or stiff sidewall tires

mount onto the turntable easier, use the rim pusher
attachment in conjunction with the bead pusher as
shown in figure 5. Apply the rim pusher tool onto the
bead pusher tool and position it in the center of the
rim and lower the device so the rim presses down-
ward onto the rim claws and then lock claws onto
the rim edge. See figure 6.

Figure 5

Figure 6
5.2 - Once the rim is secured to the turntable, posi-
tion the roller approximately 3/4” from the rim edge.
Press down the sidewall to ease the introduction of
the tire tool. See Figure 7. Move the roller to the
rest position.

To facilitate lifting of the bead over the head tool,

position the lower disk next to the edge of the lower
rim edge; hold the arm firmly while lifting the device.
See Figure 8.
Figure 7
Demount the first bead as described in the tire
changer operator’s manual.

5.3 - Position the lower disk next to the lower rim

edge. Hold firmly the handle and at the same time
rotate the turntable. This operation allows loosening
the bead, if stuck, and helps lift the tire.

NOTE: A certain amount of effort on the handle is

required to offset the counter balance action of the
turntable that pushes the disk off the center when
rotating. The lower disk cannot be locked because
of safety reasons.

6.0 USE AS A MOUNTING ASSISTANT

6.1 - Mount the first bead. Position the roller so that

it is convergent to the center of the rim and position
the bead pusher tool after the mounting tool. See
Figure 9.

Position the roller (1) and the bead pusher (2) as

shown in figure 10.

Lower the bead pusher so that the roller and the bead Figure 9
pusher tool on the tire help keeps the bead into the
drop center. See Figure 11.

The bead pusher tool follows the tire rotation during

the mounting operation.

Bring the roller and the bead pusher tool back to the
rest position.

7.0 MAINTENANCE

CAUTION - DISCONNECT ELECTRIC AND AIR SUP-

PLY FROM THE TIRE CHANGER BEFORE BEGIN-
NING ANY MAINTENANCE OR SERVICE OPERATION!
Figure 10
7.1 - Periodically clean and lubricate the horizontal
roller arm.

7.2 - Grease the pivots of the roller swing arm, the

lower disk device and the sliding guides of the mov-
ing column every month.
