Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Even though they were cousins and grew up together, in today’s Gospel, John the Baptist admits, “I
don’t know him.” – until the Spirit opened his eyes. Pray that the Spirit will open your eyes so that you
can see and appreciate each other beyond the surface of daily routines.

387 HOLY HOUR adorers spent time before our Lord in Eucharistic Devotion this past week. “Love
cannot triumph unless it becomes the one passion of our life. Without such passion we may produce
isolated acts of love, but our life is not really over or consecrated to an ideal until we have a passionate
love for our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament we shall accomplish nothing.” (St. Peter Julian Eymard).
Adorers are needed for the following hours: Tuesday 2-3am, Friday 8-9pm, Saturday 12-1:00pm, 8-9pm
and Sunday 4-5pm. Please call Judy if you are able to help 330-212-0926.

Dear Parishioners, We are looking to come out of the dark ages. In addition to Faith Direct, electronic
giving, and our newly reconstructed Parish Website, in order to make better use of technology, we are
putting together an e-mail address database as to establish e-mail communication. During next
weekend’s Masses, January 22 & 23, following the homily you will be asked to take a couple minutes to
complete a tag with your name and e-mail address, if you do not have an e-mail address, please just
include your name. The tags will be collected with the second collection. It is important for the
accuracy and function of the database that everyone fills out an e-mail address tag. Thank you in
advance for your participation.
Christ’s Peace!
Fr. David Majikas

Scripture tells us that each person is created in the image and likeness of God, beautifully and
wonderfully made… A day of penance and prayer is being observed in all dioceses of the United States
on January 22 for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion, and
of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life. St. Augustine will have
MIDDAY PRAYER at 12:00 noon on the 22nd in the church. Scripture also tells us that there is power
when two or three join in prayer in Jesus’ name: Please take half an hour to join with Fr. David and other
parishioners to pray specifically for this sin against humanity.

RCIA UPDATE: In the spirit of clustering, our sessions will be held at Immaculate Conception Church
beginning this Monday through Easter. Please continue to pray for the candidates and catechumens.

during the day on Monday.)

Please check the Lost and Found for items that may have been left in the Church this Christmas Season.

Stewardship Corner: Three times a year, then, every male among you shall appear before the Lord,
your God, in the place which he chooses: at the feast of Unleavened Bread, at the feast of Weeks,
and at the feast of Booths. No one shall appear before the Lord empty handed, but each of you
with as much as he can give, in proportion to the blessing which the Lord, your God, has bestowed
on you. Deuteronomy 16:16-17
