A gathering of religious leaders and congregation members interested in learning more about RELIGION
AND THE DEATH PENALTY will be held Tuesday, February 15 from 7pm-8:30pm at Fairlawn West United
Church of Christ, 2095 West Market Street, Akron. Karen Leith of the Catholic Commission of Summit
County will be included in the discussion. Please see the bulletin board for more information.
Scripture tells us that each person is created in the image and likeness of God, beautifully and
wonderfully made… A day of penance and prayer is being observed in all dioceses of the United States
on January 22 for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion, and
of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life. St. Augustine will have
MIDDAY PRAYER at 12:00 noon on the 22nd in the church. Scripture also tells us that there is power
when two or three join in prayer in Jesus’ name: Please take half an hour to join with Fr. David and other
parishioners to pray specifically for this sin against humanity.
RCIA UPDATE: In the spirit of clustering, our sessions will be held at Immaculate Conception Church
beginning this Monday through Easter. Please continue to pray for the candidates and catechumens.
Once again, it would be nice if parishioners could provide refreshments on occasion. If you are interested
in doing so, please call Karen (745-0011). (They could be dropped off on Sunday before/after Mass or
during the day on Monday.)
Please check the Lost and Found for items that may have been left in the Church this Christmas Season.
Items are located back by the bookrack.

Stewardship Corner: Three times a year, then, every male among you shall appear before the Lord,
your God, in the place which he chooses: at the feast of Unleavened Bread, at the feast of Weeks,
and at the feast of Booths. No one shall appear before the Lord empty handed, but each of you
with as much as he can give, in proportion to the blessing which the Lord, your God, has bestowed
on you. Deuteronomy 16:16-17
