Molave sued Gemeniano for unpaid accounts totaling around $33,890 for vehicle and parts purchases, repair jobs on his personal cars, and cash advances. The trial court dismissed the case for lack of jurisdiction, finding the dispute arose from an employer-employee relationship. However, the Supreme Court found the claims were civil in nature and had no relevance to the labor code. Jurisdiction over such claims now belongs to civil courts, not labor arbitrators.
