PRACTICAL WAYS ON HOW
YOU CAN LEAD YOUR CHILDREN TO CHRIST: GEN.U.WIN 1. Dedicate your children to God at the beginning of their lives. • 1Samuel1:27-28 “I prayed for this child and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.” • Luke 2:22 “When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord…” GEN.U.WIN 2. Bring your children early in life to personal faith, repentance and water baptism in Christ. Establish your children in a spiritual church. • Mt.19:14 “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Bringing your children to a personal faith: a. Instruct your children daily in God’s Word, both in conversation and family devotions. • Dt. 6:5-7 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Bringing your children to a personal faith: • Instruct your children in the importance of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. (Ac1:4-5,8; 2:4,39) • Through example and exhortation, encourage your children to live lives devoted to prayer. (Rom.12:12; Eph.6:18) GEN.U.WIN 3. Encourage your children to remain separated from the world and to witness and work for God. • 2 Cor. 6:14-7:1 “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. • Rom.12:2 “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. “IN the world but not OF the world” • Protect your children from ungodly influences. • Prov.13:20 “He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fool suffers harm.” • 1Jn2:15-17 “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world - the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does – comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.” “IN the world but not OF the world”
• Lift your children up to God by
constant and earnest intercession. (Eph.6:18; Jas.5:16; Jn17:1) – That they may know Jesus Christ and his Word intimately;
– That God may keep them from the world, from falling away, from Satan and from false teaching;
– That they may constantly possess the full joy of Christ;
– That they may be holy in thought, deed and character;
“IN the world but not OF the world”
• Lift your children up to God by
constant and earnest intercession. (Eph.6:18; Jas.5:16; Jn17:1) – That they may be one in purpose and fellowship, as demonstrated by Jesus and the Father;
– That they may lead others to Christ;
– That they may persevere in the faith and finally be with
Christ in heaven; and
– That they may constantly live in God’s love and presence.
GEN.U.WIN 4. Prepare your children to suffer and endure persecution because of righteousness. • Mt5:10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. • 2Ti3:12 “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted…” GEN.U.WIN 5. Have such love and concern for your children that you would be willing to pour out your life as if it were a sacrifice to the Lord in order to deepen their faith and make their lives what they should be in the Lord. • Phil2:17 “But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.” • *What sacrifice and suffering should are you willing to undergo for the faith of your own children? “The heart of the father must be turned to the heart of the child in order to bring the heart of the child to the heart of the Savior.” Gen.U.Win Generation.You.Win (Winning the Next Generation for Christ) Ptra.
