Process for the Backlog Registration for the Term Jan – May, 2011

The Backlog course registration for the Term Jan – May, 2011 will be held from 6th Jan – 13th
Jan, 2011 only. The process to be followed for backlog registration:

A. Backlog Course Registration Through UMS

i. For Continuing students:

They can register a maximum of 2 courses in addition to the courses of the current
term provided he/she has a CGPA or TGPA of at least 3.5 (or a cumulative
percentage of 35 in the marks based programs) in the previous term.

ii. For Students who have a status of „Not Promoted‟ or From a Pass Out Batch
They will be allowed to register a maximum of 8 courses. No minimum CGPA
requirement will be there for the registration of courses.

iii. Students who took admission in Year 2010 and skipped the first term by
applying “Term off” as permitted by DAA (Operations) / Any student on Term
Break from other batches as permitted by DAA Operations).
They will be able to register a maximum of 2 backlog courses without any
condition.

Process for Registration of Backlog courses for the above category of students:

Step 1:

The student will be logging to his/her UMS account and selecting the link “Backlog
Course Registration”. The student will be able to select a course and view the various
time slots with sections in which that course is running. The student can apply according
to his/her choice for the course depending upon the timeslot which suits him/her. The
above process will be repeated for maximum number of courses which the student is
eligible to register.
The student will be able to see all the courses which have grade of „F‟, „E‟ and all the
courses from the immediate previous term i.e. Aug 10 – Dec 10. The student will be
able to see the list of equivalent courses (mapped courses) in the interface in case the
course has been changed.

Step 2.

After student selects all the courses for backlog registration, he/she will take a print out of
the same. The print out will contain the details of the student like: Name, Registration
No., Program Code, Home Section (For a Student who does not have “Not Promoted
Status”), Photo etc. It will also contain the Course codes and respective sections for
backlog courses (which student opted) and the relevant fee details.

Step 3.
Student then will submit the fee in the accounts section. The accounts section will give a
receipt for the same.

Step 4.
In the last step, student will go to 30-402 (Help Desk) for getting the final
registration slip of backlog courses. The student will deposit the form (as taken in Step 2
& 3) 30-402 (Help Desk) and get the registration slip. This registration slip will be
used as an authentication mark to attend the classes for the backlog courses.

B. Manual Registration for the Back Log Course

In case the student is not able to register for the backlog course through the interface, the
student is advised to visit 30-402 (Help desk) for manual registration.
Important Guidelines:

i. The University will not be responsible for a clash-free scheduling of backlog

course (s). A student shall verify himself that timetable of backlog course(s) do
not have clash with his regular courses with the help of the interface given in
UMS.

ii. Fee for the registration in each backlog course will be one tenth of the fee
applicable to that batch in the current term if the student has studied the course
already.
It would be charged one fifth if the student has not studied the course previously.
iii. Students will be able to register only for the courses which are offered in the
Term Jan – May, 2010. But in case, a course is scrapped the student may
approach the Head of School Department, who may in turn approach HOD-F for
equivalent course. The registration for such kind of courses will be held manually
in 30-402 (Help Desk)
iv. Attendance of the backlog courses will be counted from the next day when the
final registration slip is issued to the student.

v. The student will be required to attend backlog course in complete respect. For e.g.
student must attend (Lectures), (Tutorials) & (Practical) in case the course has
three components i.e. LTP.
