FROM THE PRESIDENT...

I would like to thank every one of you who have volunteered your time with S.P.O.R.T.S. It’s individuals like you who make our
youth sports program one of the best in United States.

We have a little under 11,000 kids participating in all of our leagues. With this many kids it takes thousands of volunteers from league
board members, coaches, concession stand helpers, and team parents.

It’s these individuals who dedicate many hours and resources to get involved with helping our sons and daughters. Not only do these
individuals teach our kids how to play the game but they teach them other valuable lessons that they will take with them for the rest of
their lives.

These lessons include such things as sportsmanship, respect, and how to be a good team player. All of these lessons will help them
with other aspects of their lives. Most importantly, I hope the kids take away fond memories of the games, practices, and friendships
they have made over the years.

To those individuals who have not taken the initiative yet, please do so, we can definitely use your help. To get involved you don’t
have to be a board member or a coach. If you are interested please contact any league or S.P.O.R.T.S. board member or office staff
about volunteering opportunities.

WALK-IN REGISTRATION

SPOOKY SPORTS HAUNTED WOODS

S.P.O.R.T.S. hosted it first annual Spooky Sports Haunted Woods on October 22 and 23, 2010. Thanks to the volunteer support from
our generous S.P.O.R.T.S. community, the event was a great success! With eleven sports-themed scenes set up in the woods at
Billericay Park, fun and fear was had by all. A special thank you to our Spooky Sports Sponsors: Sunbelt Rentals, M&I Bank, Wal-
Mart and Marsh and to the participating vendors, Marco’s Pizza, Daylight Donuts, Moe’s Southwest Grill and Geno’s Kettle Corn.

 HSE-FISHERS BOY’S BASKETBALL
The new season is underway! Thanks to all our volunteers, coaches, sponsors and the S.P.O.R.T.S. staff who make this happen.

As our games begin, please remember our mission to promote sportsmanship and fair play. We encourage enthusiastic fans and
cheering but please respect the game, the teams competing, as well as the officials.

Our league participation continues to grow along with the school district, resulting in a great deal of strain on the availability of gyms.
The schools continue to be generous with use of their facilities; however, there are times when we will need to make last minute
changes. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes and hope to keep changes to a minimum. To help communicate with the
parents, we are improving the look and functionality of our website. Most everything you need to know, whether it’s school locations
or even your son’s practice schedule can be found there. Just visit the S.P.O.R.T.S. website, www.hsesports.org, and follow the Boy’s
Basketball links. Please note that you can follow us on Twitter (HSEFishershoops) where we will broadcast weather updates or last
minute schedule changes.

We could not operate this program without the cooperation of our schools. They have few requests, including no food or drinks in the
gym and that you supervise your children when they are in the gym. No one should be outside the gym, except to use the restroom.
We need everyone’s cooperation!

The S.P.O.R.T.S. Junior High Basketball League continues to grow, fielding 22 teams this season. The teams will play double
headers starting in January and will conclude with our season ending tournament in March.

We’ve come a long way in our short history. It wasn’t long ago that the recreation league only offered play to 4th graders. And, it has
only been in the last five years that we were able to offer a 5th and 6th grade league. Each season we find ways to improve on our
history of success. We were able to include 3rd grade travel starting with last season. This year we added a 1st grade league that
begins practice and play in January.

We continue looking for support and ideas to build an indoor facility to help alleviate the scheduling pressure and create a more
centralized venue for games and practices. If you would like to help or simply voice support, please go to the website and follow the
links to providing feedback.

FISHERS-HSE GIRL’S BASKETBALL

Girl’s basketball is in the middle of another exciting and competitive year where we have another record number of girls playing in
both our Travel and Recreation Leagues. Our Travel League program began with our 7th and 8th grade teams forming after school
started and then playing competitively throughout the fall. Those teams were joined later in the fall by our 3rd through 6th grade
teams playing for Fishers and HSE. The board has embarked on having all of our teams join two new leagues this fall to enhance the
opportunity for all of our teams to play a competitive schedule, along with a variety of school programs from around the Central
Indiana area.

The Recreation League began practicing after fall break and its season kicked off with its first games in December on the road to the
annual tournament weekend in March. We are excited to have girls participating in leagues ranging from 1st through 6th grade. It is
very exciting to watch our numbers climb to over 300 girls participating in the recreation program. Of course none of this would be
possible without all of our volunteer coaches who give many hours to our players.

To assist all coaches, the Girls Basketball Board hosted a late fall coaching clinic led by our districts high school coaches, Coach
Gaines and Coach Huppenthal, along with select players from their teams to share some helpful drills, encourage parent coaches and
most of all stress the need for all to enjoy themselves through participation. In addition the board would like to thank our districts
schools for allowing girls to practice and play in their gyms night in night out, and every weekend.

 FISHERS-HSE YOUTH BASEBALL
A note from the Pres…I am extremely excited about the upcoming 2011 baseball program for the kids and families of our community.
Through our partnership with the S.P.O.R.T.S. office, HSE school system, the Town of Fishers and our many sponsors, we have a
great deal to look forward to in 2011.

With last year’s new partnership between the Town of Fishers and the HSE School system for field maintenance, we have seen
unprecedented improvements in all of our facilities across the district. The team at the Fishers Parks and Recreation Department have
done a phenomenal job at improving not only the school fields we play on, but the town park facilities as well. Many of the mounds,
home plate and infield areas have been upgraded with new, cutting edge materials that will play better and last longer than traditional
materials. New dugouts, fences and nets at Holland Park have proved to be a wonderful improvement to that facility. The Fishers
Parks and Recreation Department continues to outdo themselves in their commitment and support for the kids and families of our
community through providing the very best facilities for our kids to play on. Again, many thanks and our sincere gratitude to Scott
Fadness – Deputy Town Manager, Eric Pethtel – Director of Public Works, The Parks Advisory Committee, the members of the Town
Council of Fishers and the taxpayers of our community, as well as a warm welcome to the new Director of Parks and Recreation,
Barry Russell. It is clear to all that Fishers, Indiana is home to the finest baseball facilities in the state, and Parks that everyone in our
community can be very proud of.

In 2011, through our continued partnership with USSSA (United States Specialty Sports Association), the Fishers HSE Youth
Baseball Program will continue to showcase our best in class facilities and bring increased visibility and revenue to our community by
hosting regional and national baseball tournaments. This year we will not only host a USSSA World Series Qualifier as in 2010, but
we will be home to the USSSA Indiana State Championship for the 11 and 13 year old age groups. We look forward to working with
the Town of Fishers, the Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau as well as with the kids and families of our program to
make these events a huge success.

We are also very blessed to have the support and unprecedented involvement in our youth program by both the Fishers and
Southeastern High School baseball programs. From the Athletic Directors to the Varsity Head Coaches, our collaboration on facility
improvements to baseball skill development, is incredible. Everyone is committed to providing the youth of our community the very
best baseball experience possible. My sincere thanks to Jon Miles (FHS Athletic Director), Mathew Cherry (FHS Varsity Head
Coach), Jim Self (HSE Co-Athletic Director), Greg Habegger (HSE Co-Athletic Director) and Scott Johnson (HSE Varsity Head
Coach) for all their continued support and commitment to the kids and families of our program.

It continues to be a goal of the board and baseball program to better communicate with the community what’s happening with the
league. Please see the website www.fishershseyouthbaseball.com, for registration packets and future newsletters for more exciting
information about the youth baseball program. Registration for baseball will take place in the month of January. Please come and
sign-up at either walk-in registration (qualified volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about coaching, sponsorships,
evaluations, travel teams, auxiliary and other league opportunities) or online at www.hsesports.org. You can pick up your Baseball
Information Packet for detailed information on the upcoming season at the S.P.O.R.T.S. office at Billericay Park. Volunteers are
much needed to make this and every year successful for our players. If you would like to help, please speak with any of our
volunteers on registration day. We need coaches, field crew helpers, concession personnel, auxiliary volunteers and others. You can
definitely make a difference in the lives of our youth.

Lastly, special thanks to all of our board members, tireless volunteers, parents, S.P.O.R.T.S., and the Town of Fishers and Parks
Department, who have put in so much time and effort to make this the best baseball program possible. I am confident that 2011 is
going to be another great year for youth baseball in Fishers.

FISHERS-HSE YOUTH SOFTBALL

As the cold air of winter settles into Indiana, the planning for the next softball season is heating up. We are proud to announce that
Fishers was chosen to host the 2011 NSA “B” World Series. This tournament is being held the last weekend in July. We are very
proud of the work done by former and current Board members and members of the softball community who have helped Fishers build
such a positive reputation in the NSA softball community. In addition to the World Series, we will also host several other NSA
tournaments as well as our own annual Heatwave tournament and Fusion All-Star tournament.

Wintertime is a great time to keep your softball skills sharp. It is also a perfect time to enroll in lessons to get you ready for the spring.
Look for announcements concerning clinics that we will be hosting to help the girls improve their softball skills. A great way to help
shake off the winter blues is to sign up for the Fishers High School Softball Winter Clinic. It is being held at Fishers High School on
February 19, 2011. All ages from 8U to 14U are invited to attend. The cost is $15 per session. Please see the Fishers High School
Softball webpage for the registration form and more information. Help support the Lady Tigers by attending this great clinic.

Registration for our recreational league will be held in January. Evaluations for the recreational league will be held on Saturday,
March 5 and Sunday, March 6. Players in the 10U league thru the High School league will need to attend the evaluations. Players in
the 5/6 and 8U leagues are not evaluated. Please look for announcements of specific times and locations.

FISHERS SOCCER CLUB

As we wrap up 2010 let’s take a moment to thank all of our players, parents, friends of the club, sponsors, and tireless volunteers who
make Fishers Soccer Club great. Thank you to our partners at S.P.O.R.T.S., HSE Schools, and the Fishers Parks Department. Best
wishes to all in 2011!

Reflecting on 2010
Our competitive teams are seeing more success in league and tournament play. Our focus on player development led by Jamie and the
coaching staff, combined with our players’ hard work and dedication, has resulted with eight of our teams finishing as champion or
finalist in league play this fall.

Our U13 Girls Red team placed first in the ISL U13 Premier Division, the highest level of competitive play in the state Indiana.
Congratulations are in order as this is the first Fishers Soccer Club team to accomplish this. The ladies are coached by Joel Chalkley,
Tyler Carrithers, and Mike Sullivan.

Our recreational teams are in the midst of the first season of “age-based” play. Our focus on player development has been carried out
through increased opportunities for camps and clinics for both players and coaches.

FSC hosted three successful tournaments: our 19th Annual Halloween Classic presented by Community Health Network, a Kohl’s US
Youth Soccer American Cup, and our in-house recreational tournament. It was an honor to dedicate the new fields at Cyntheanne
Park during the Halloween Classic – Cyntheanne Park is a job well done!

Thanks to Mike Sullivan for his efforts with the S.P.O.R.T.S. Haunted Woods.

Our partnership with HSE schools continues to grow – as does the turf thanks to a team effort which included top dressing fields,
fertilization, aeration, and watering. We will get the irrigation in at HSE!

Finally, congratulations to the HSE Lady Royals on their outstanding season: the 18-3-1 record, #5 ranking, conference championship,
sectional championship, and regional championship. It is nice to see our FSC alumnae find success on the field!

Looking ahead to 2011

2011 looks bright for the club. We will be announcing our uniform package for 2012 through 2014 seasons; a realignment of board
elections with the soccer calendar (August to July), fan apparel, and increased opportunities to volunteer through committee roles.

S.P.O.R.T.S. Board Representation – Brad Banks and Charlie Gavit have replaced Rich Hauser and Paul Count as our club
representatives on the S.P.O.R.T.S. board. Brad currently coaches in our recreational program and has experience on the field as a
player and referee. Charlie is currently an assistant coach for our U11 Red boys team and holds the National Youth License. In
addition, both gentlemen currently hold At-Large positions on the club’s Board of Directors.

Registration for 2011 Spring Recreational Soccer – If you are not currently registered on one of our full year teams and wish to
play during the spring session, please plan to attend open registration in January. We will field teams from U5 through high school.
Our high school teams, U16 and U19, will continue to participate in NCRSL (North Central Recreational Soccer League). Visit the
club website at for the latest information on recreational registration. In addition to the sessions at S.P.O.R.T.S. we will hold a session
for soccer only from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on January 30 at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Hamilton Town Center.

2011 Kohl’s U.S. Youth Soccer American Cup – Fishers Soccer Club will proudly host our third Kohl’s Cup for recreational players
the weekend of June 4. It’s a terrific opportunity for our recreational players to gather with teams from multiple clubs in soccer.
2011 Referee Clinics – All current referees need to schedule a recertification class to referee matches in 2011. Now is also the best
time for new referees to register and get licensed. See the club website for links to the current information. Questions may be directed

FISHERS-HSE YOUTH FOOTBALL

The Fishers-HSE Youth Football program continued to grow at a fast pace during the 2010 season with approximately 1,200 boys and
girls participating in 1st and 2nd grade flag football, 3rd thru 6th grade tackle football and cheerleading.

We want to thank all of the volunteers, coaches and parents for another successful season. It is the league’s mission to ensure every
child has a positive experience while expanding their knowledge and appreciation of the fundamentals of the game. We could not
accomplish this mission without countless hours donated by our board members, coaches, parents and friends.

The youth football program enjoyed many successes during the 2010 season including the following highlights:

Recreational Tackle League – We had another very successful year on the playing field with the recreational league. Our 2010
recreational tackle league champions were:
• 6th grade league: Cowboys
• 5th grade league: Redskins
• 4th grade league: Raiders
• 3rd grade league: Vikings

Knights IEFA Travel Team – In his third season as head coach, Luke Dunnuck and his staff continued the 5th and 6th grade IEFA
Knights travel team’s tradition of excellence by completing the year at 5-5 in what was arguably one of the toughest seasons in the
north division of the IEFA in years. Congratulations to the Knights’ players, parents and coaches!

Border Wars All-Star Tournament – The Border Wars All-Star Tournament had another banner year. Again this year, the
tournament had leagues competing in both the big and small league divisions. The tournament also partnered with USA Football to
provide a great experience for all those participating.

Again this year, our coaches and teams have done a phenomenal job. Our league set a new with record with six out of our eight teams
advancing to the Border Wars championships at Center Grove Bantam Fields. Overall, we concluded our youth with three Border
Wars champions and three runner-ups. We had the most teams and the most winners out of all communities.

Congratulations to Eric Hohlt for running one of the best youth football tournaments in the state of Indiana, if not the country.

Flag Poles – I am very proud to say we now have flag poles at Mudsock Park. These were erected prior to the season and were a
much needed addition to the park. The league will look to build around the flag poles in the future, keep your eyes peeled next year.

Allegient One Call Voicemails, Emails and Texts – Special thanks again to Allegient for sponsoring the One Call voicemail, text and
email communication system. Thanks also to Eric Hohlt for being the voice of Fishers-HSE Youth Football.

Field Striping – I would like to extend a very special thanks to Matt Morgan from Morgan Striping. Matt and his company donated
an unbelievable amount of time and money to ensure that not only the fields at Mudsock were ready to go, but also both Fishers and
HSE practice locations and all three junior highs. This is something that largely goes unnoticed by the general public, but is a major
part of maintaining the excellent facilities that we have.

Drainage – I would like to extend a very special thanks to Zane Harvey for his efforts in getting the drainage problem between fields
one and two taken care of. Zane stepped in to directionally drill to hook up with the sewers without having to tear up the fields, which
allowed for the season to start with the comfort of knowing that the fields would be dry if there were heavy rains.

2011 Dates – Even though the football season is over, we have already started scheduling important dates for next season, including
the following:
January: Registration for 7 v 7 Developmental league for current 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders
April-May: 7 v 7 Developmental flag football league
June : Summer conditioning camp begins at Mudsock Park.

Travel Football Evaluations – Week of July 25-29, 2011 – All 5th and 6th graders interested in playing for the Knights travel football
team or the 5th and 6th grade Border Wars All-Star teams, must attend travel evaluations the week of July 25, 2011 to be eligible for
the Knights or the All-Star teams - Please mark your calendars.

Thanks – Finally, the Fishers-HSE Youth Football would like to thank the many volunteers who make our league such a tremendous
success. It is the behind the scenes work by our volunteer board members who contribute their time, energy and talents to help with
concessions, field set up and tear down, clean up, equipment fitting and assisting with various league and board responsibilities. I
would like to especially recognize our outgoing board members for their years of service including Steve Risley, Bob Gibson and Joe
Ford. Their dedication to the league and the young men of Fishers is something that I personally value.

The league would also like to thank the athletic directors and staffs of our local schools for allowing our league to use their facilities
for league games and practices. Special thanks to Scott May of HSE High School and Rick Wimmer of Fishers High School for their
contributions to our league. Finally, special thanks to Lynda, Cindy, Diana, Diane, and Micci in the S.P.O.R.T.S. office for their
dedication to the development of the boys and girls in the football and cheer programs.

FISHERS-HSE CHEERLEADING
Our cheerleading program is looking forward to a great 2011 season. The Fisher-HSE Youth Football League and Cheer Program is a
cohesive unit that works together to provide a well-rounded experience for all participants. The Cheer Program works to provide
cheerleaders for all the recreational tackle football games. The Recreational Cheerleading Program does not have competitions or
tryouts. NO EXPERIENCE AND NO TUMBLING IS NEEDED for recreational cheer. The Recreational Cheer Program has no
stunting or tumbling (one foot is always on the ground). Our program is offered to girls in Kindergarten through 6th grade for fall of
2011. PLEASE NOTE: Our cheerleaders will cheer for 4th-6th grade tackle football. Our registration for 2011 will be May 1-May
31. More details to follow. Our website will be updated in late January for the new season. Please feel free to contact us at

The Recreational Cheer Board

THE FIRE TRACK AND FIELD AND CROSS COUNTRY

Fire Track and Field is a great introduction to the sport and an opportunity to extend the training and season for the more experienced
athletes.

The Fire is excited to start its fourth year of Track and field after a highly successful third season where we had 19 USATF (USA
Track & Field) state champions and 10 USATF regional champions, and a team that went undefeated during the regular season. But
more importantly, we had all our athletes performing at their best. We are a USATF sanctioned club that competes in the USATF
Junior Olympic program. We offer track and field for 1st-8th graders and are happy to work with athletes of all abilities, trying hard
to make the season fun for all. Our athletes compete in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m hurdles, relays, high jump, long
jump, discus, shot put, and javelin.

The core of our coaching staff in USATF are level one certified and use USATF techniques and guidelines to guide our athletes
through a well-structured training schedule. All our athletes have the opportunity to compete in their age divisions at local (all-
comers) and regional USATF sanctioned meets. Although encouraged, attendance of every practice is not mandatory, and
participation in meets is voluntary. We encourage athletes to compete in their school track programs and fully commit to The Fire
when the school seasons are completed.

HSE-FISHERS BOY’S LACROSSE

You can register for spring 2011 via the S.P.O.R.T.S. website starting in the month of January, or you can stop by the S.P.O.R.T.S.
office in the community room on Saturday, January 22 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Youth Leagues (Grades 3-4)

Please visit our website: www.hselacrosse.com. This website contains materials for those new to the sport of lacrosse as well as
important club, league and team information.
• February 22 Youth League Meeting for all players and parents at HSE High School cafeteria starting at 7:00 p.m.
• March 14 - 17 Mandatory Evaluation/Practice
• March 23 Practice Begins (practices will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays in the early evening and on some Saturdays)
• April 4 - May 26 Regular Season Play

The Youth League will be a skills development league. Teams will play inter-league games as well as teams throughout the greater
Indianapolis area. Some of which will include St. Simon, Noblesville, and Carmel.

The registration fee for the 3rd/4th league is $95 and includes shorts and a team jersey – yours to keep. This fee also includes the
S.P.O.R.T.S. registration, fundraising for the Club, field maintenance, referees, supplies, etc.

For the first time, HSE-Fishers Boys Lacrosse Club is offering an equipment rental program for the 3rd/4th league. Cost to rent is $50
and equipment will include a helmet, stick, and shoulder pads. Gloves, cleats and other personal equipment will still be the player’s
responsibility to provide. A refundable deposit of $100 is required.

Each player is required to register for a U.S. Lacrosse membership. Copy of membership and expiration date must be provided by the
February 22 meeting. Go to www.uslacrosse.org to enroll. All other equipment is to be provided by the player.

play in tournaments outside of the state in cities like Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio. Those who play on the travel team will be required
to pay their own way for these events.

The registration fee for the 5th/6th league is $130 and includes shorts and a team jersey – yours to keep. This fee also includes the
S.P.O.R.T.S. registration, fundraising for the Club, field maintenance, referees, supplies, etc.

Each player is required to register for a U.S. Lacrosse membership. Copy of membership and expiration date must be provided by the
February 22 meeting. Go to www.uslacrosse.org to enroll. All other equipment is to be provided by the player.

Junior High (Grades 7-8)

Coaches
For all those interested in becoming a coach, assistant coach or learning more about lacrosse there will be free clinics held in January.
Session one will consist of the basics. Session two will continue with the basics but also include stick skills, drills etc. If you are
interested in coaching or learning more about lacrosse please plan on attending both of these clinics. More information, with dates,

State Tournament
The HSE-Fishers Boys Lacrosse Club is thrilled to be hosting the Indiana Open State Lacrosse Championship Tournament for junior
high players on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Cyntheanne Park. Over 20 teams from the state of Indiana will converge upon the Fishers
area for a great day of lacrosse. Please join us for a fun-filled day and learn more about the fastest growing sport in the country. For

HSE GIRL’S LACROSSE

Lacrosse is a perfect combination of some of the greatest team sports in the world. It incorporates soccer, football, hockey and
basketball into one fast-paced exciting game. It is a game of strategy, speed, teamwork and endurance.

US Lacrosse Magazine reported that the number of people playing lacrosse has increased by over 120 percent since 2001.

HSE Girl’s Lacrosse is a club sport that offers opportunities for girls from third grade to high school seniors from Hamilton
Southeastern and Fishers schools. This is a spring sport that starts in February and ends in June.

The youth program provides a recreational opportunity for young girls to learn the sport and develop the skills they will need to
compete. The youth program also has a travel team comprised of dedicated, talented girls in primarily 7th and 8th grade.

High school girls have an opportunity to play at either a junior varsity or varsity level. The varsity is scheduled to play 16 games and
the junior varsity 14 games during the 2011 season against schools throughout Indiana.

The coaching staff is experienced and dedicated to assuring that all players learn and benefit from the program. The key ingredient is
to find girls who have the desire and willingness to play the game. No experience is necessary. We encourage girls to come “join the
fun” of this growing and challenging sport.
There will be a girl’s registration/call-out meeting on January 19, 2011 (location to be announced). If you would like more

SOUTHEASTERN RUGBY
Rugby is a fast- paced, fun, safe and exciting sport. Legendary founder of the sport, William Webb Ellis, was a student at England’s
Rugby School. He created the game when breaking the rules of soccer by picking up the ball and running with it. Rugby’s ultimate
prize, the World Cup trophy, now bears his name. Rugby was an Olympic sport from 1900 to 1924, and the United States won the
gold medal twice, in Antwerp (1920) and Paris (1924). Rugby will once again be an Olympic sport in 2014. USA Rugby is the
National Governing Body for rugby in America and is a member of the International Rugby Board and the United States Olympic
Committee.

Today, rugby is played in more than 90 countries, making it one of the most popular sports in the world. The rugby World Cup is the
third most watched sporting event in the world. Rugby in the USA has been growing steadily and there are now over 60,000 registered
players in America. Southeastern Rugby is coming into it’s ninth year having won two State Titles (2003 and 2008) and finishing as
State Runner-up in 2009.

Coming off a successful 8-3 Division I Rugby Indiana season in 2010, having traveled as far away as Nashville, TN and playing teams
from six different states in various tournaments, the Southeastern Boys nearly defeated the fifth ranked team in the country in last
year’s semifinals action. Southeastern Rugby continues to get recognized as one of the best programs in the state and we hope you
will consider joining us! Several of our players were named to the Indiana Select team which traveled to Canada this past summer to
face a very tough Canadian All-Star team. Unlike any other high school sport, high school rugby players have the opportunity to
compete for a national title and play for national teams. Rugby is a game for life and great things are ahead in 2011!

The high school U19 team is composed of students from both Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern, with the U15 program including
students from Riverside, Fishers, and Hamilton Southeastern junior highs and local middle schools. The January 11 meeting will
begin at 7:00 p.m. and parents and players (both boys and girls) are encouraged to attend. Accommodations will be made for current
winter sport students who wish to play rugby after their seasons are over, so please plan to attend in order to get club information.

FROM THE S.P.O.R.T.S. OFFICE…

Happy 2011! Boy does time fly by! It seems like just yesterday that we were all getting ready for Y2K! Things here at S.P.O.R.T.S.
have really changed since that time. In January 2000 we were reporting the previous year’s numbers at 5,370. This year I am
reporting last year’s participant totals at 10,880. All I can say is WOW. This is over 100% growth! We added new sports, new
participants and many new volunteers! We moved offices twice and added many new parks and schools. It would be impossible to
thank each and every one of you who have made S.P.O.R.T.S. what it is today, but please know that you are all truly appreciated!

One testament to the wonderful organization that you are all a part of is the recent announcement of S.P.O.R.T.S. receiving the Fishers
Chamber Pillar award for Small Business of the Year. We are VERY PROUD of this honor and you should be too. The criteria
included “providing superior customer service, exhibit community spirit and provide positive economic impact.” S.P.O.R.T.S. has
five part-time employees and thousands of volunteers. I truly believe that there is not another organization like ours! The relationship
we have with our families, our leagues, the schools and the Town is second to none!

We are sometimes asked how S.P.O.R.T.S., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, is funded. Each registration fee includes a portion that goes to
S.P.O.R.T.S. This fee covers general operating expenses (office lease, phones, mailings, computers, websites, salaries, etc.) as well as
items that you might not realize are covered by your S.P.O.R.T.S. fee. This includes scholarships, background checks for coaches and
interpreter fees for our hearing impaired participants. In 2010, over $22,000 was granted in scholarships to the kids in our programs,
over $2,200 was spent on background checks and $6,500 was paid to interpreters. As you can see, in addition to everyday “business,”
S.P.O.R.T.S. does what it can to provide the best experiences possible for the community. The S.P.O.R.T.S. fee has been $20 for the
past four years. Due to the dramatic increase in several areas (scholarships, interpreters and technology amongst others), the
S.P.O.R.T.S. fee is being increased by $5 this year. Again, this fee is INCLUDED in the total amount set by each league so you don’t
have to write two checks. Please let us know if you have any questions about this. The S.P.O.R.T.S. Board and office staff does
everything possible to keep costs as low as possible. In addition to registration fees, we do try to raise funds through sponsorships and
fundraising events. It has been a tough two years getting corporate sponsorships for S.P.O.R.T.S., but we hope to see an upswing with
that in 2011. In fact, if you have any connections to companies that would be interested in advertising with one of the most
recognized youth organizations in the state, please have them contact us!!

We did have a new fundraising event this year that went VERY well! Thank you to everyone involved with the first annual Spooky
Sports Haunted Woods. It was a haunted walk through Billericay Park’s wooded trail. Each league put together an incredible scene
that scared even the most tried and true Halloween aficionados! It was great fun for everyone, and helped raise funds for S.P.O.R.T.S.
We are very excited for year two and already have the date set (October 21 and 22, 2011). If you love Halloween and would like to be
on one of the most fun committees around, just let us know! We would love to have you. If not, just mark your calendar and make
sure you don’t miss it this year, you won’t be disappointed!!

S.P.O.R.T.S. would like to welcome Teri Lenz as the new Director of Development. We are very excited to have Teri join the
S.P.O.R.T.S. staff. Teri has three boys who have been through our programs and she has served as a S.P.O.R.T.S. Board officer for
several years. Teri will be working with fundraising and sponsorships to help us keep our program costs down. If you, your family,
your company or anyone you know would like to become a sponsor and support S.P.O.R.T.S., please contact Teri at:
teri@hsesports.org. We would like to recognize other members of the S.P.O.R.T.S. staff who work very hard to serve the community
on a daily basis. They are Lynda Carlino (11 years), Diane Summers (7 years), Cindy Stewart (10 years), Diana Berry (13 years) and
Micci Harris (3 years). It is truly an incredible staff that does its best to support each of the leagues as well as all of the families who
participate.

Finally, please make sure you get a chance to look over the S.P.O.R.T.S. Board roster posted in the newsletter. The Board would like
to thank Jim Wierciak, Paul Count, Rich Hauser and Joe Hussey whose terms are over. They all contributed a great deal to the
S.P.O.R.T.S. organization and will be missed. We also welcome Joe Dunn, Brad Banks, Charlie Gavit and Shari Rohr as new
S.P.O.R.T.S. board members! We look forward to an exciting 2012!
