“Why do the heathen rage,

and the people imagine a vain thing?”

Zechariah 7:12-14 (King James Version)

12
Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should
hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his
spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the
LORD of hosts.

Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not

13

hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:

14
But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom
they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man
passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.

Isaiah 29:9-15 (King James Version)

9
Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken,
but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink. Rev. 18:3

10
For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and
hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he
covered.

11
And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that
is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I
pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:

12
And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read
this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.

13
Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me
with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed
their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the
precept of men:

Psalm 2:1
“Why do the heathen rage,
and the people imagine a vain thing?”
14
Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this
people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their
wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men
shall be hid.

Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD,
15

and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who
knoweth us?

Psalm 73:6-20

6Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as

a garment.
7Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
8They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak
loftily.
9They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through
the earth.
10Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to
them.
11And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
12Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in
riches.
13Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
14For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
15If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of
thy children.
16When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;
17Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.
18Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into
destruction.
19How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly
consumed with terrors.
20As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou
shalt despise their image.

Psalm 2:1
“Why do the heathen rage,
and the people imagine a vain thing?”
Revelation 18:3
3For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication,
and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and
the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of
her delicacies

Acts 4:25-26
25Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the
heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?
26The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered
together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

1 Corinthians 8:12
But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak
conscience, ye sin against Christ.

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves,
and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then
will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their
land.

Matthew 6:7-8
7But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for
they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what
things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Colossians 3:13
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a
quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
13Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep
his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret
thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Psalm 2:1
