ASX RELEASE
Macquarie Atlas Roads (MQA) has today released its December 2010 quarter revenue and
traffic statistics for each of its portfolio toll roads.
Traffic for the December 2010 quarter has been impacted by severe weather conditions
particularly in France and the UK. This has muted what would otherwise have been stronger
performance for the quarter for APRR and the M6 Toll. Notwithstanding this, weighted
average traffic and toll revenue increased across the portfolio by 0.7% and 4.1% respectively.
Traffic and toll revenue growth for the twelve months to 31 December 2010 were 2.1% and
4.6% respectively. These full year numbers also include the impact of adverse weather in the
first quarter.
During the fourth quarter, revenue increased on all portfolio roads except Chicago Skyway,
reflecting improving traffic trends and the positive impact of the changes to tolling structures
implemented during 2010.
The table below provides a summary of the traffic and revenue growth against the prior
corresponding period (pcp).

At the completion of the anticipated acquisition of the remaining minority interests in APRR by
Eiffarie SAS, MQA will own an estimated 19.4% ownership interest in Autoroutes Paris-Rhin-
Rhône (APRR), in France.
Toll Revenue
During the December 2010 quarter, total traffic (VKT) increased by 1.3% on pcp, with growth
in both light and heavy vehicle volumes. Light vehicle traffic grew by 0.3% while heavy vehicle
volumes grew by 6.5%.
Light vehicle traffic was disrupted by heavy snowfalls from late November and, to a lesser
extent, by petrol shortages caused by strikes staged against the French pension reform,
which coincided with the autumn school holidays in France.
Despite this, total light vehicle volume for the quarter was 0.3% above pcp, indicating an
encouraging underlying performance.
While the improvement in heavy vehicle traffic reflects the continued recovery of industrial
production in France, volumes remain 10.3% below 2007 levels.
Toll revenue continued its positive trend, with a total €434.5 million collected over the quarter,
an increase of 3.4% over pcp. Annual toll revenues for 2010 were 4.3% higher than 2009.
MQA owns 100% of the equity in Midland Expressway Limited, the owner of the concession
for the M6 Toll in the West Midlands, United Kingdom.
Traffic was negatively impacted in the fourth quarter of 2010 by the severe weather conditions
experienced in the UK. Heavy snow significantly affected traffic levels in both November and
December, resulting in an average daily traffic level that was 0.5% lower than pcp for the
quarter.
Despite the impact of severe weather conditions during both the first and fourth quarters of
2010, full year revenue increased by 6.2% on pcp due to a combination of higher overall
traffic volumes and higher average tolls.
MQA owns an estimated 50% economic interest in TRIP II LP, the owner of the concession
for the Dulles Greenway in Virginia, United States.
Dulles Greenway’s average daily traffic over the December 2010 quarter was 2.5% below
pcp, primarily as a result of the new toll schedule which came into effect on 1 July 2010.
Traffic on the adjoining Dulles Toll Road (DTR) fell by 3.7% during the same quarter
compared to pcp.
Revenue for the quarter performed strongly, increasing 7.8% compared to the pcp.
Over the full year, revenue was 1.8% higher than 2009. This includes the impact of unusually
harsh winter weather (50 inches of accumulated snowfall) in the first quarter of 2010.
MQA owns 22.5% of the equity in Skyway Concession Company LLC, the owner of the
concession for the Chicago Skyway in Illinois, United States.
Average daily traffic over the December 2010 quarter was 5.3% below pcp. Skyway traffic
volumes continue to be negatively impacted by ongoing construction works on the Indiana
Toll Road barrier system, the closure of the Cline Avenue Bridge on State Road 912, and the
completion of construction on the major competing route.
Skyway traffic remains in line with 2008 volumes with minimal growth as a result of continued
corridor disruptions.
MQA owns 25% of the equity in ITR Concession Company LLC, the owner of the concession
for the Indiana Toll Road in Indiana, United States.
Table 5: ITR Concession Company LLC – Indiana Toll Road – Traffic Statistics
Category Quarter to Date
Oct-Dec 2009 Oct-Dec 2010 Change vs. pcp
Indiana Toll Road’s system-wide average daily traffic (FLET) during the December 2010
quarter was 1.2% below pcp. Ticket system trips were up 1.2% compared to pcp with growth
in both light and heavy vehicles. Barrier traffic was down 7.2% over the same period as the
system continued to be negatively impacted by corridor disruptions also experienced on
Skyway as well as reduced construction on competing routes.
The strong performance of the Ticket system and the toll increase on 1 July 2010 resulted in
revenue growth of 13.8% in the December 2010 quarter compared to pcp.
6 WARNOW TUNNEL
MQA owns 70% of the equity in Warnowquerung GmbH & Co. KG, the owner of the
concession for the Warnow Tunnel in Rostock, Germany;
Average daily traffic over the December 2010 quarter was 13.2% above pcp as the
construction works on the competing road (L22) continued until late November. The impact of
this construction was also reflected in the YTD traffic growth figure of 8.8% despite the severe
winter weather conditions experienced during the March 2010 quarter.
The increased traffic through the Warnow tunnel has resulted in a 19.2% increase in average
daily revenue relative to the corresponding quarter last year.
