BEFORE THE RESPECTED NEGOTIATION CENTRE

NEGOTIATION BETWEEN

MISS RITTIKA JOSHI

AND

MR. ATULYA AHUJA

STRATEGY PAPER ON BEHALF OF MISS RITTIKA JOSHI

REPRESENTED BY MISS RITTIKA JOSHI

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE NEGOTIATION

1. To reach a common consensus between the parties by means of this negotiation session.
2. To protect the business interests of Miss Rittika Joshi.
3. To hire Mr. Atulya Ahuja as an employee.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

STRENGTHS:

1. Well established and reputed IT consultant with 12 years of work experience.

2. Wide consumer base with companies from various sectors.
3. Has designs which have good business prospects.
4. Willing to make initial capital expenditure.

WEAKNESSES:

1. Not providing installation and maintenance service will reduce the number of clients
drastically.
2. Not having an experienced professional like Mr. Ahuja will lead to bad implementation of her
designs and thereby reducing the revenue greatly.

INTERESTS OF MISS RITTIKA JOSHI.

1. To get access to the wide client network of Mr. Ahuja.

2. To expand her business and generate maximum possible revenue.
3. To hire Mr. Ahuja as an employee at a salary of 6 lakh p.a.

CONFLICTING INTERESTS OF THE OTHER PARTY

1. Mr. Ahuja may not be willing to be an employee under Miss Rittika Joshi at
a meager rate of 6 lakh rupees per annum given the fact that his collaboration
with her will yield her many more benefits worth a lot more.
2. Mr. Ahuja may not be interested to be a subordinate to Miss Rittika Joshi as he may like
more independence in his work.
VIABLE AND CONCILIATORY OPTIONS

The deal has to be made final and the aim should be to hire Mr. Ahuja at 8 lakh rupees per

annum in the worst case and as a long term prospect if Mr Ahuja contributes in increasing

the revenue of the business, a partnership can be considered.

BEST ALTERNATIVE TO THE NEGOTIATED AGREEMENT

1. Mr. Ahuja agrees to be an employee for a salary of 6 lakh rupees per annum, a 50% hike
in Mr. Ahuja’s salary as compared to the one he was receiving from his previous employer.

2. A 4 month prior notice shall be served in case of decision to resign from the firm.

WORST ALTERNATIVE TO THE NEGOTIATED AGREEMENT

1. Agree to enter into a partnership with Mr. Ahuja.

2. Mr. Ahuja’s entry need not necessarily increase the firm’s revenue by 45% given the unpredictable
nature of the business and risks involved in the investment.
