“Social Media Marketing is not a matter of one country, one language or few companies. It
is happening everywhere on the planet, in every language” according to Cara Drolshagen,
Co-Founder and Vice-President of The Bees Awards. “Social Media Marketing is serious
business and it’s growing faster each day”.
In fact, one-fifth of the planet is using social media platforms today.1 This was reflected in
last year’s event, where the Bees Awards received entries from 21 countries across five
continents. Moreover, large corporations are recognizing the impact of social media on
business today. In 2010, 74 per cent of the award entries came from globally recognized
brands such as IKEA, Toyota, and Old Spice. Keeping pace with the phenomenal growth of
the social media marketing world, this year the event will introduce eight new categories to
the awards, in addition to the already established 23 specialized areas from last year.
