The real objective of the Filipino community in Hong Kong in organizing the
beauty pageants, provided in the documentary, is for a cause. It is to help and
not only find beauty for charity. Through doing so, during their times of need, they
will continue to assist their fellow Filipino comrades. It is a religious endeavor in
which it is right, in my view, to be remembered and appreciated. Communication
is a very important tool that also plays a major role in helping the Filipino
community accomplish its feat. In the documentary, the actions and declarations
reflect a ceremonial view of contact that helps to bring people together in
friendship and commonality. A perfect example that shows a ceremonial
viewpoint is the beauty pageant. The Filipino participants use the national
dresses of the Philippines and also put on plays to express and communicate
their national pride to the audience as a symbol. In addition, the Filipino
community also wants to demonstrate about the problems facing certain Filipino
people that they are trying to help and provide their own families with their own
needs and not act immorally. As reported in the documentary, "what you do
affects not only the Filipino communities here, but also our country," meaning
that before they decide to take any action, everyone should think carefully and
multiple times.

One example would be Leo, a domestic helper, via contact, establishing a
special bond with the family of his employer. They developed a special love for
each other through interacting with each other, which culminated in Leo's
employer welcoming him as part of their family. They interact with each other in a
very special way. Such examples of their contact are playing together, buying
items such as food and drinks from each other and even offering birthday
presents to each other. Leo often, every once in a while, compliments the kid he
cares about. The link they made through interaction also strengthened their trust
with each other, leading to Leo being well trusted to take care of everything in the
house. Their communication, in simple words, has led to very successful results.

The beauty pageant event will be a further example. The event is used by the
Filipino community as a way of interacting not just with their fellow communities,
but also with foreigners watching. To express their national pride towards the
audience, they use the beauty pageant event as a platform. They interact by
putting on acts, expressing their emotions and even expressing their feelings to
the listeners and viewers. They succeeded, in my opinion, in affecting external
changes within their climate and atmosphere. I deeply respect and endorse their
stance as it is not easy to go through the struggles that have been faced by the
Filipino community and yet stand up.
