Configuring ESS Business Package
Assumptions/Preparations:
o  Installed SAP Enterprise Portal (EP 5.0 or higher)

o  Installed ERP core components (ECC 5.0 or higher)

o  Configured the System Landscape Directory (SLD)

o  Downloaded ESS business package from SAP market place

o  Patch level is in Sync with SAP recommendation

Configuring ESS Business Package
Step 1: Import & Deploy ESS Business Package
o  Deployed using the Software Deployment Manager (SDM)

o  Complete the deployment wizard

o  Logon to the portal to the check the content in the Portal

Step 2: Set up the SAP JAVA Connector (JCo) Connections in the
Web Dynpro Content Administrator
o  Logon to the web dynpro content administrator

o  Create the required JCo connections


• SAP_R3_HumanResources
• SAP_R3_HumanResources_MetaData
• SAP_R3_Financials
• SAP_R3_Financials_MetaData
• SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics
• SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics_MetaData

Step 2: Set up the SAP JAVA Connector (JCo) Connections in the
Web Dynpro Content Administrator
o  Configure the JCo connections for meta data and application data

o  Check the connections


Once done the JCo connection status changes from red to green

Step 3: Set up and configure systems
o  Set up a system and assign system alias SAP_WebDynpro_XSS

o  Maintain Web Application Server (WAS) properties


• WAS host name <J2EE Name> <Port>
• WAS path: /webdynpro/dispatcher/
• WAS protocol: http or https

Step 4: Create a user in the portal
o  Create a user with user id: ESS_USER1

o  Assign the ESS role

o  Give at least read permission for the system we have created

Step 5: Set up Single Sign On between EP & ECC
o  Export portal certificate (using J2EE Administrator)
•  Start the SAP J2EE Administrator.
•  Connect to appropriate server .
•  Choose portal_sid/Server<…>/Services/Key storage.
•  Select the TicketKeystore under Views .
•  Select SAPLogonTicketKeypair-cert under Entries .
•  Choose Export.
•  Change the name of certificate

Assumptions/Preparations:
o  Installed SAP recommended HR-Service Packs (HRSP)

o  Patch level is in Sync with SAP recommendation

o  PA and OM has been configured with relevant data

o  Human Resource Extension set (EA_HR) has been activated (in


IMG)

o  Configure instance profile in ECC (using trxn: RZ12)

• Set icm/host_name_full to Fully Qualified Domain Name


(FQDN )

• Restart the application server for the change to take effect

• Import the certificate in binary format
• Add the certificates to the list of certificates
• Add certificate to ACL ( give portal system id and client )

o  Create copy (Z*) of the composite role SAP_EMPLOYEE_ERP
(trxn: PFCG)

the copied composite role ZSAP_EMPLOYEE_ERP

o  Configure the ESS specific services

o  Activate a service or de-activate

o  Add or remove additional features to existing services
