For many AFC ministers, marriage service is an
important part of their ministry. In most U.S.
jurisdictions, AFC ministers readily meet state and
local requirements to officiate at weddings.

Unfortunately, the law in some jurisdictions
presents problems for AFC ministers to legally
perform marriages, e.g. New York City.
By law in NY State, marriages may be
solemnized by a clergyperson or minister of any
religion. But, as cautioned on the AFC website
http://www.amfellow.org/pages/New-York-Minister.html?ss1 ,
New York City has special and frequently
changing requirements.
If you are asked to perform a marriage ceremony
in NYC, please contact us well in advance so that
we can help you to become authorized. It is not a
simple matter and it may not be possible at all....

In 2009, the AFC committed to reduce paper
waste by 25%. Did we meet this commitment, you
ask? YES! In fact, this year’s data show that we
exceeded our goal by at least 50%.
Key to our save-trees, conserve-energy initiative
was our conversion of hard-copy training courses
to online versions, reducing waste and expense.
Then, we passed on savings to you by reducing
requested offerings, as well as enrollment and
grading fees. Hence, reduced costs to you, the
clergy, and the ability to provide instant online
course grading (in most cases).
For the last 35 years we have utilized USPS for
virtually 100% of our communication with clergy.
Now, we rely on technology to connect with you.
While we rejoice in these Internet capabilities,
we recognize that you, our ministers, are inundated
with spam. We wish NEVER to offend with the
quantity of our communications.

In February of this year, the AFC committed
100% of that month’s Church income from online
courses to help victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
We are delighted to report that the Church received
February 2010.
Since that time, the AFC Board of Directors
has donated those funds, in full, to Doctors
Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières)
who provided, and continue to provide, critical
medical services to Haiti earthquake victims.
Not one cent of the dedicated February income
remains in our AFC coffers. All helps Haiti!
