Dear Mr Thompson,

I am writing to complain about a holiday I spent at Happy Valley from 12th to 20th August with a
group of fellow students. We were extremely dissatisfied with our stay for several reasons, and
we feel that we were misled by your brochure.

First of all, on the financial side, our complaint is that we were charged the full fee even though
we had originally been offered a price including a student discount. Furthermore, and contrary to
what was stated in the brochure, friends who had brought their own tents were not allowed to use
them and had to pay to rent tents they did not actually need.

If this were not enough, we have complaints about the site itself. The trailers were cramped and
apparently had not been cleaned for some while, which made us very uncomfortable. Although
there was a mini- market, it was not at all “convenient”; apart from being extremely expensive, it
was unfortunate that it was closed for most of the day. Finally, I would hardly call one bar and
one cinema there “fantastic nightlife” as your brochure claimed.

I tried to speak to you during our stay on the campsite, but this proved to be an impossible thing.

I strongly believe that your brochure is misleading and I feel we are entitled to some sort of
financial compensation for the trouble and disappointment caused, otherwise I will take the
matter further by contacting an organization dealing with advertising standards.
