Anthony Brown Terrence B. Sheridan

Lieutenant Governor Secretary
The Maryland State Police
would like to thank all participating police departments
for the timely responses which facilitated the successful completion of
the 2010 Annual Salary and Benefits Survey
questions and/or comments should be directed to
Mr. Thomas Williams,

2010 Salary and Benefits Survey

INTRODUCTION

This survey was completed by the Maryland State Police, Office of Strategic Planning, Planning & Research Division. All
data was provided by the responding departments as of June 1, 2010 and includes salary and benefit increases through
January 1, 2010. The Maryland State Police salary levels are those effective January 1, 2010.

The 2010 Salary and Benefits Survey compares base salary, not including subsistence, which is paid to employees.
Additionally, the Survey compares retirement, educational benefits and pay policies.

The promotional process for the Maryland State Police has been collectively bargained. It requires the participant be in
rank at least one year prior to taking any promotional exams. The minimum salary in this survey reflects one year in
grade.

Although 19 departments were surveyed, some departments are on the same pay scale; therefore the results may vary in
ranking.

All information in this Salary Survey is based on information received from the participating agencies.
