Abstrak

Museum Louvre adalah salah satu museum seni terbesar yang paling banyak dikunjungi dan merupakan sebuah
bangunan bersejarah dunia. Museum Louvre terletak di Rive Doite Deine, Paris, Perancis. Setiap tahun jutaan
turis mendatangi Museum Louvre, tetapi kebanyakan tidak tahu mengenai sejarah yang terjadi pada bangunan
ini sebelum menjadi sebuah museum seperti sekarang. Jurnal ini akan membahas perkembangan Museum
Louvre dari awal dibangun sampai saat ini. Metode yang dipakai dalam jurnal ini untuk mendapatkan informasi
adalah dengan menggunakan studi literatur dan metode deskriptif, dengan analisis kualitatif yang diambil dari
berbagai sumber. Museum Louvre awalnya dibangun sebagai istana yang dijadikan benteng perlindungan dari
serangan musuh terutama Inggris. Pada tahun 1528 Raja François 1 mengubah total Louvre menjadi menjadi
istana baru yang lebih modern pada masanya. Seiring dengan pergantian kekuasaan di Perancis, Louvre juga
mengalami perubahan. Louvre kemudian menjadi Royal Residence, dimana setiap raja pada masanya
menambahkan sentuhan arsitektur mereka sendiri. Saat Revolusi Perancis terjadi Louvre ditinggalkan dan pada
tahun 1973 pemerintah membuka kembali Louvre sebagai museum seni. Kemudian Louvre terus berkembang
dan dibangun menjadi museum seni seperti sekarang.

Development of the Louvre, from Fortress to Museum

Abstract

The Louvre Museum is one of the largest and most visited art museums and is a world historic building.
Louvre Museum is located in Rive Doite Deine,Paris, France. Everr year millions of tourists come to the
Louvre Museum, but most do not know about the history that occurred in this buildingbefore it became a
museum as it is today. This journal will discuss the development of the Louvre Museum from the first moment
to the present day. The method that will be used in this journal to obtain information is to use literature studies
and descriptive methods, with qualitative analysis drawn from various sources. The Louvre Museum was
originally built as a palace that served as a fortress of protection from th attacks of the mainly British enemy.
In 1528 King François 1 transformed the louvre into a new palace. With the change of power in France, the
Louvre also underwent a change. The Louvre later became the Royal Residence, where every king of his time
added a touch of their own architecture. During the French Revolution the Louvre was abandoned and in
1973 the government reopened the Louvre as an art museum. Then the Louvre continued to develop and was
built into an art museum as it is today.
