TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer’s report was accepted by Dianne and
seconded by Lorraine. All were in favour.
"STANLEY BURGER"
Open 7 days a
COMMUNICATIONS: An email was received from Thunder Bay Veterinary
week
Services Committee requesting a $100.00 donation. We have always 12 Noon to 1 a.m.
donated in the past, and all were in favour of donating again. Any questions
regarding the TBVSC please contact Carol Maki at 807-625-0030.
SPORTS: Gymkhana dates have been confirmed. Please see below for all dates.

Last year our flag went missing (again). Tammy requested that we make 2 new regulation flags and she keep one handy in
case ours disappears or breaks. She has an idea who may have it and will contact them.
A question about the lead line class was brought up. It was “Can one person ride in the lead line class and also ride a
different horse in the 4D system”? Unfortunately the answer is no. If you are capable of riding, then you are encouraged to do so.
The lead line class is meant for beginners to gain confidence and knowledge. If a rider registers in the lead line class, they will
remain in that category, regardless if the lead is on or off. However, if a youth registers as a rider in the 4D system, and cannot
continue to ride without the help of the lead line, they may scratch from qualifying in the 4D system, and continue to ride in the lead
line category. The events that they did ride alone in will be accepted.

SHOW: Tammy is trying to create a show circuit, with possibly having the best 4 out of 6 shows. Shows possibly to be included are
Dryden shows, Hymers, and OAS.

We have enough ribbons for our first show, but will need to order more for our second show. If anyone has any new items
that they would like to donate as prizes, it would be very much appreciated.

The North Western Ontario Racing Club would like to hold races the same days as our events. We welcome this idea but
races and gymkhanas and/or shows cannot be scheduled during the same time. If there is a conflict, our events will be cancelled.

PUBLICITY: Jessica would like to organize a fundraising social event. Her idea to get this awesome bluegrass band called The
Wild Turkeys to play for us! Jessica has attended one of their shows and she, and everyone else had a great time. The Wild
Turkeys have played a few different venues here in town and have quite a fan base. Now that there is an interest from the
membership, Jessica will go ahead and look further into detail. She was thinking about hosting it in May, but any suitable time for us
and for the band will be considered. For more information, or to hear The Wild Turkeys please visit their site at
www.myspace.com/thewildturkeys. <------or click there for our web/email readers.

Advertising in the newsletter is free for members up to ”business card size.” To place a classified or notification is
free. Advertising for sponsors is free (please let me know if you are a sponsor)! A half page advertisement is $5.00, and a
full page advertisement is $10.00.

YOUTH: Due to lack of attendance, there will not be Youth fun days this year.

NEW BUSINESS: We will ask the OAS if we can convert their corn shack into our kitchen. Further details will be
discussed with the OAS at one of their meetings.

Purchasing our timer will be postponed until further notice due to concentrating on other financial concerns and
opportunities.

We will be doing meat orders again this year. Order forms will be available at the March meeting.

Our first fundraising BBQ this year will be the May long weekend at the Odena. Our second fundraising BBQ will
be at the Kakabeka Street Fair in August. Volunteers are much needed and appreciated.

Sadly, Ian Shaw has retired from being a Trustee, but remains a member. Again, we thank Ian for his many years
of dedication and involvement. Rob Dowswell was nominated for Trustee, but has declined to his upcoming busy
schedule. Bill Hickman was also nominated and has accepted the position. Congratulations Bill!

This year there is an interest in having our barrel racing event MBRA sanctioned. It is up to the individual to have
their own MBRA membership, and to follow their regulations. For more info visit their site at www.mbra.ca, or Kathy
Johnston at 628-6298.

Our annual year end banquet will be a week later this year in order to give more time for the year end buckles and
trophies to arrive. Please see below for the date.

We will be having a Trail Ride/Poker run again this year, but we are waiting for available dates.
All business shall be conducted at meetings in front of the membership, instead of telephone to avoid hearsay. If
there are any issues of concern, please don’t hesitate to come forward at a meeting to discuss them with the membership.

The Paint Club will be having an all in hand show on June 11th. They have asked to borrow our show equipment
and we have voted in favour.

Debbie Hay might be able to make our barrel covers for us if we are still interested. We will try to get a quote on materials
to see if it is feasible.

Meeting adjourned at 9:10 PM.

A message from Royal Hair Design,

“I’d like to thank everyone who came to my shop and used my services. Hope to see you all in 2011.”
