Emotions are an integral part of EQ. Emotions may arise from internal or external
stimulants which enkindle some needed actions to survive in the given circumstances.
Thus important factor of developing EQ is to be have awareness, control and
management of one's own emotions, and then those of other people. EQ has 2 main
aspects:
a) Understanding self
b) Understanding others.
Thus the process of developing one’s EQ can be summarized in these steps:
1. Knowing your emotions.
2. Managing your own emotions.
3. Motivating yourself.
4. Recognizing and understanding other people's emotions.
5. Managing relationships, i.e., managing the emotions of others.
The EQ concept argues that IQ, or conventional intelligence, is too narrow; that there are
wider areas of emotional intelligence that dictate and enable how successful we are.
Success requires more than IQ (Intelligence Quotient), which has tended to be the
traditional measure of intelligence, ignoring essential behavioral and character elements.

set of being able to do that. As part of a social structure, one learns from a very young
age the aspects of self conduct and social conduct. To be able to interact with others is
one of the most important aspect of social competence. People with appropriate level of

3. Posture – Confidence reflects through a persons posture. When tired most people
tend to slouch whereas when confident our body language is much straighter. One
of the simplest ways to improve self worth is by improving posture.
4. Metal and Physical Health – Health has immence impact on self worth. We tend
to question our abilities and worth when down with health issue. It is also
important to get into regular exercise sessions to keep body and mind fit.
5. Walk Faster – Confident people tend to take longer steps and walk faster whereas
those with less confidence take shorter steps and walk slower. It is important to
check how we walk.
6. Smile – it is another easy way of boosting self image. Smile not only helps self
but also others.
7. Respect others – it is important to respect and listen to others. It not only
improves social competence but also adds to self worth.
8. Finances – finance have a deep impact on one’s self worth. Financially troubled
people often low on self worth.
9. Communication – good communication skill is a reflection of confidence. It is
important to improve on one’s communication.
10. Evaluation of Self – It is important to know and understand self skills and
knowledge. Knowing self is surest way to boost confidence.

a) Self control is the ability of control one’s emotions and reactions. It is the ability of an
indicidual to remain calm and collected and still be able to think radically. Some people
are inherently have self control qualities where others have to develop it. It xcan be
developed by using various measures like:
1. Understand emotion – the first step to be able to control an emotion is to first
understand it. A lot of times when we feel angry or depressed it is the manifestation of
some other underlying emotion. Thus it is important to first understand self and self
emotions.
2. Controlling negativity – stress is one of the leading causes of negativity in life. It is
important to control and check negative thoughts and emotions.
3. Emotional energy – it is important that one’s emotional energies are utilized and
channelized.
b) Optimism stands for everything positive and hopeful. Optimism is the ability to see
positives in every situation. It’s the ability of learning from bad experience and to be able
to move on. Some people are inherently optimistic whereas other develop it by training,
spiritual trainings and other methods.
Persistence is one of the biggest quality of a optimist. It is the belief that something good
will happen in the end. Or the ability to see glass half full than empty.

traits of this great leader of history are:
1. Simplicity – “The greatness of this man was his simplicity” is how history
described Mahatma Gandhi. He led a simple life.
2. Truth – a lawyer by profession Gadhi chose to be on the side of truth and fought
for those who were right and not for monetary or personal gains.
3. Non Violence – Mahatma Gandhi practiced truth and non violence as a principle
of his life. He was a vegetarian and did not harm even those who were opposed to
him. He thereby popularized a new way of life, popularly known as Ahimsa.
4. Dignified – Gandhi is known for his calm and composed exterior. In times when
India was struggling for freedom to be able to conduct oneself in that manner was
commendable.
5. Great Speaker – Mahatma Gandhi had the ability to keep people spell bound by
his speeches. He was the first leader who was able to bring the entire nation
together by affecting millions through his immense capability to public speaking.
6. Spiritual – Gandhi was a spiritual person who respected all religions and religious
faith. This trait alone made him popular amongst followers of all religions.
7. Respectful and Soft Spoken – Mahatma Gandhi was known for his warmth. He
was respectful towards all irrespective of their class, caste or religion.
8. Educated and Wise – He was an educated man who had seen world and had
