POLITICAL FREEDOM OF AFRICAN NATIONS
1950 Between 1951 and 1966 no less than 35 African Nations and
hundreds of millions of African people became politically inde-
pendent from their colonial rulers. However, the economic
dependency from the empires largely remained.
Yet this political freedom gave rise to expectations and efforts
by the people of Africa and their governments that they can
achieve a more just world, where food, health and education

was a right to all and not a privilege for a few. The precondi-
tion to achieve this world was a more just distribution of the
resources and wealth in the developing nations and beyond.
UN CHARTER OF ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE
1970 • December 19, 1972 towards that goal, the UN authorises
the preparation of “UN Charter on Economic Rights and
Duties of States”*
• December 14, 1974 120 nations pass the “UN Charter” pro-
claiming for developing nations the basic right to:
• economic independence
1975 • ownership of natural resources
• nationalise property of transnationals
• freedom from political and economic coercion by industri-
alised nations.*

1980 April 18, 1980: Zimbabwe gains political independence –
while efforts of colonial powers to maintain economic
dependency prevailing. *
Political independence was now also gained by the last
African countries – located in the most disputed parts of the
continent – the mineral and oil rich South:

Only after the ARV-Africa strategy of the drug cartel was fully

The world’s largest community health programme involv-
2008 ing more than 1,000 people affected by AIDS revealed that
micronutrients are able to halt and reverse the symptoms of
AIDS – without ARVs. Such findings – of course – had never
