STARCRAFT II GAME UNITS BROOD LORD

Previous Zerg Unit: Ultralisk Next Zerg Unit: Larva

UNITS

BROOD LORD
These massive manta-like flying
creatures serve as aerial siege units
for the Swarm. Only seen in the
largest of conflicts, the Brood Lord
has the ability to spit out biological
symbiotes that function as living
ammunition. These regurgitated
creatures focus on their target,
ravaging it until they destroy it or die
in the attempt. This attack makes Brood Lords extremely
dangerous to opposing installations. However, despite their
impressive offensive abilities, Brood Lords are not very
durable, and they make easy targets for most aerial-strike
combatants.

Brood Lord - Game - StarCraft II

GENERAL STRATEGY

Anti-ground flying unit.

STRONG AGAINST
Evolves from Corruptor.
Flings broodlings, which do high levels of damage to ground- based

units and can surround them.

Broodlings cannot attack air units, and have a limited lifespan.
Marine Hydralisk Stalker
Effective siege unit due to its long-ranged attack and ability to fly.

WEAK AGAINST

Viking Corruptor Void Ray

COUNTERMEASURES

VS Terran

Build Vikings to efficiently take down Brood Lords without any retaliation.
Battlecruisers are also effective against Brood Lords and can destroy them

in one hit with their Yamato Cannon upgrade.

The biggest strength of Brood Lords is their ability to create massive

numbers of Broodlings. Take Brood Lords out instantly using ghosts and
their snipe ability to prevent this.

VS Zerg

Anti-air flying units like Corruptors can engage Brood Lords and pursue
them throughout an area effortlessly without any fear of being targeted in
return.

Anti-air ground units such as Hydralisks, though obviously less ideal than
flying units, can provide a defense against Brood Lords when massed.

VS Protoss

Brood Lords can be handily dispatched by air units that they can’t reach,
such as Carriers, Phoenixes, and especially Void Rays – the Rays’ ’Prismatic

how come there's always a Terran unit that can one-shot the best Zerg unit? anyway, brrod lord own AA turrets because they attack

from out of range. just give then a corrupter escort and say goodbye to cheapo massed marines.

skullcrucher 2 days, 22 hours ago

there tough to beet unless there on your team

rlharper 6 days, 2 hours ago

these thing combine w/ corrupters are fricking tough to beat

manostuff 2/17/11 12:17 PM

Will a broodling grow in to a brood lord?

Brood Lord - Game - StarCraft II

@manostuff: are you joking?

JetfirePrime 2/17/11 5:05 AM

Using Brood Lords take to much control example: A corruptor has taken up 2 control but when morphing into a Brood Lord they not only

become massive but also taken an extra 4 therefore the control becomes from 2 to 4. Their massive size also makes them a big target

and any unit that got an attack that does bonus damage to MASSIVE means the Brood Lord needs even more protection from anything

that can fly.

Cavyking 6 days, 22 hours ago

@JetfirePrime: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz what were u saying again?

JetfirePrime 5 days, 17 hours ago

@Cavyking: Making Brood lords cost more supply like Corruptors take up two supply but morphing them will make them

take 4 supply. Therefore it equals 6 supply taken due to all massive units in the game takes 6 supply, control and of course

Psi.

xDivineJudge 2/14/11 5:09 PM

sadly very little hp 4 vikings can prob 2 shot it

VergenSoldie 2/12/11 7:21 PM

they are the biggest whel 2'd biggest unit of all exept the colossus or should i say dady long legs of geting eaten by brood lords and

everything exept missle turrets and they can take down those infact i am going to be zerg

Sirkillsalot 2/12/11 6:40 PM

Hakutsuru 1/30/11 6:09 AM

Were Guardians better?

HanzMuller 2/2/11 1:09 PM

@Hakutsuru: No because brood lords do the same damage and brood lords spawn broodlings.

VergenSoldie 2/12/11 7:22 PM

@Hakutsuru: yes infact there sound ohwo, rifraf

VergenSoldie 2/12/11 7:23 PM

@HanzMuller: actuly yes it is the hunterkillers that make you think no

PHASE 1/29/11 9:06 PM

These look like a mount in wow

Warhawk 2/9/11 2:49 PM

@PHASE: Mounts gone wild man

Davidlook 1/29/11 1:31 AM

These are the only real reason I chose the AA mission on Char. I do hate nydus worms, but these little buggers do not fit into my

strategy whatsoever.

HanzMuller 2/2/11 1:07 PM

@Davidlook: That's why you should get hive mind controller

RikoZerame 2/21/11 3:22 AM

@HanzMuller: What if you could mind control the Nydus Worms? :D

Anyway, I just didn't want to deal with Leviathin AND Kerrigan, myself. I think we've all had enough terrible, terrible

damage throughout the game...

BudMeister 1/27/11 8:38 PM

Why does it say this unit is good against AA units? no really though, you do not use these guys against anything that can shoot up.

Especially stalkers.

Brood Lord - Game - StarCraft II

Froopermoop 1/29/11 6:19 AM

@BudMeister: They have really long range. Shoot them first and they're too busy with the broodlings to retaliate.

VGMAN 2/16/11 1:20 AM

@BudMeister: also, if you use them in the back of the enemies base or, say, in the back of your army as support, they'll be

to busy to focus fire the brood lords themselves

bubble 1/27/11 1:28 PM

There's no doubt they have an uncanny resemblence to the Guardian.

Wesley 1/26/11 2:34 AM

Hate broodlords..... that is when i'm not using them

skyscraper 1/26/11 12:43 AM

isnt that is the most cuties thing youve ever seen(besides me)

Cavyking 6 days, 22 hours ago

@skysc@!!#r: my rine is better looking

Anewbis 1/24/11 4:05 PM

I haven't played Zerg very much, so I'm a bit confused about the damage of this unit. Does it do 20 damage when the broodling hit the

target, and then some extra damage as the broodlings attack? Or do the broodling do 20 damage before they die?

Cavyking 1/24/11 4:58 PM

@Anewbis: 20 then broodling tries to do a little more. they are great anti ground units

Fergilicious 1/18/11 9:59 PM

i liked the guardian(which looks exactly like this) and the devourer(zerg tier 3 anti air[they dont have tier three anti air anymore]) better

StanleyRSOAM 4 days, 1 hour ago

@Fergilicious: the new anti air unit is the corrupter, i think that they are waaaay better than the devourer. mostly because

they can morph into brood lords and they are a lot tougher and deal a lot more DPS

Brood Lord - Game - StarCraft II

Morpheus 1/17/11 11:34 PM

@Dragar:They used to have a unit that did that called the scourge from SC1 and the campaign. But of course they started "Balancing The

Races"

Dragar 2/3/11 6:00 AM

@Morpheus: balance the races by taking away the zerg massive "ship" by taking away its anti-air, while all other massive

"ships" have anti air and anti ground. YUP, seems fair to me!, if you do the math, if broodlings did fly, 1v1, a carrier or

battle cruiser would still win against a brood lord. it still follows the general P>T>Z rule, so it would still be balanced.

nerdyindeed 1/11/11 5:48 AM

like a zerg version of the carrier......

i like.

Dragar 1/14/11 3:08 AM

@nerdyindeed: they could be more like the carrier if they could have a separate attack for air units. how do "broodWings"

sound?

Slayalisk 1/9/11 5:35 PM

This thing counters all ground units when massed.

Red 1/12/11 8:54 AM

@Masada: when massed? That defeats the purpose of a counter. If everything in the game was only effective when massed

then half of the units wouldn't ever be used.
