Action Decreases fever by inhibiting the effects of pyrogens on the hypothalamic

heat regulating centers and by a hypothalamic action leading to sweating
and vasolidation.

Indication - relief of mild to moderate pain.

- Tgemporary reduction of fever.

Contraindication - Contraindication with allergy to acetaminophen.

- Use cautiously with impared hepatic function,chronic
alcoholism’pregnancy,lactation.

Adverse Effect -CNS:

weakness,fatigue,nervousness,sedation,drowsiness,dizziness,depression,
seizures
-GI: Anorexia,nausea and vomiting.

Classification Macrolide antibiotic

Action Bacteriostatic or Bactericidal in susceptible bacteria.

Indication -Treatment of lower respiratory tract infection: acute bacterial exacerbation

of COPD due to H. infuenzae, S.pneumoniae/community Acquired
pneumonia due to S. pneumonia.

Contraindication -contraindications with hypersensitivity to azithromycin,erythromycin or

any macrolide antibiotic.
- Use cautiously with gonorrhea or syphilis, pseudomembranous
colitis,hepatic or renal impairment ,lactation.

Adverse Effect -CNS: Dizziness, headache, vertigo,s omnolence, fatigue.

-GI: diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea and vomitting, dyspepsia, latulence,
melena and pseudomembranous

Nursing - Assess site of infection , skin color,lesion, orientation GI output, bowel

Classification Diuretics

Action - inhibits the reabsorption of sodium and chloride from henle and
distal renal tubule.
- Increase renal excretion of water, sodium, chloride, magnesium,
hydrogen and calcium.
Indication -Edema
-hypertension

Contraindication -Hypersensitvity
-Cross-sensitivity with thiazides and sulfonamides may occur.
-Pre-existing electrolytes imbalance, hepatic camour anuria.

Adverse Effect CNS: Headache, vertigo, dizziness, paresthesia, weakness,

restlessness,fever.
- GI: Abdominal discomfort and pain, diarrhea,anorexia, nausea and
vomiting, constipation, pancreatitis.

Nursing - Assess fluid status during therapy

Responsibilities - Monitor daily weight, intake and output radio.
- Monitor bloodpressure and pulse before and after administration.
- Assess for allergy to sulfonamides.
Generic Name Furosemide (lasix)

Generic Name Cefuroxime axeti (ceftin)

Patient’s Dosage 500g/mg pills

Classification Anti infective,antibiotic, second generation cephalosponins.

Action -Inhibits cell-wall synthesis,promoting osmotic instability: usually

bactericidal.
-Hinders or kills susceptible bacteria,including many grtam-positive
organisms and enteric gram-negative baclli.
Indication Bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis or secondary bacterial
infection of acute bronchitis.

Contraindication - Containdications in patients hypersensitive to drug or otjer

cephalosporins.
- Use cautiously in patients with history of sensitivity to penicillin and
in patients with renal impairment.

Adverse Effect CNS: dizziness,headache,malaise,paresthesia.

GI: abdominal cramps,anal pruritus, anorexia, diarrhea, dyspepsia, glossitis,
nausea.

Nursing -Instruct patients to take drug exactly as prescribed, even after he feels
