WRITING TO DESCRIBE

Colour/shape/size/movement Also remember:


• Quickly plan out what you will
write about in each paragraph
before you begin
• Aim to write 5-7 paragraphs
• STAY IN ONE PLACE AND
TIME (This is NOT a story.)
Imagine that you are looking at
a picture and you can only
describe what is in the picture.
Texture/temperature
• Use he, she, it, they, the
cautious boy... (not I)
• Use different types of
sentences (short, long,
complex...)
• Never use a comma instead of
a full stop.
• Check all of your punctuation,
spelling and grammar
